wlaidlaw Posted August 1, 2024 Share #1  Posted August 1, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to use my OSBLO telescope adapter with my 80-200 Vario Elmar R. The problem is I cannot seem to find an R lens to LTM adapter, as the OSBLO is LTM. Does anyone know if any company ever made an R lens to LTM adapter or is there another way to "catchee monkey" . My maths says the adapter should be 18.2mm deep (47.0-28.8). Wilson

Michael Geschlecht Posted August 1, 2024 Share #3 Â Posted August 1, 2024 (edited) Hello Wilson, Did you try a Novoflex LEI-F? A Leicaflex/Leica-R lens to Leica screw mount body adapter. R lenses have their own excellent bellows system in the 16880-BR-2 bellows system which I already have. I do have a set of L39 extension tubes (Periflex) which may solve the problem Wilson
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 2, 2024 Share #7 Â Posted August 2, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Wilson, If this adapter needs to be 18.2mm deep to accept a Leicaflex/Leica-R lens & have the lens be focused at Infinity when the lens is set at Infinity. And the adapter LEI-F is about 10mm deep. Won't the lens extension available when focusing the 80-200 Vario-Elmar be more than the 8.2mm necessary to bring the lens to focus at Infinity when the lens focus barrel is focused to closer distances? Until you can locate a Leica Thread extension tube, or a set of Leica Thread extension tubes, that total around 8.2mm. There is a Leica Thread extension tube 14020 which is 15mm deep. wlaidlaw Posted August 9, 2024 Author Share #8  Posted August 9, 2024 I am delighted to say that the LEI-F adapter does enable my 80-200 Vario Elmar-R lens to be used as a telescope with the OSBLO. The focussing on the lens allows for the shallower than mathematically ideal adapter, to focus from quite close distances to infinity. The only downside is that the telescope is a bit like an early 19th century marine telescope with quite a small exit pupil, so you have to keep your eye well centred. Wilson
