But I dislike the feel and sound of the M11 shutter - it gives the impression of Leica's attempt to modernise the M series, getting to grips with LV and exposure from the EVF, but has not done it very well. Not Das Wesentliche. +1 I’d love Leica proposing a Traditional shutter/metering digital M again
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Hi didier, Take a look here Lightweight kits for SL/2/3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tomasis7 Posted September 29, 2024 Share #42 Posted September 29, 2024 I recently added Panasonic 20-60. It is surprisingly good in overall. I want try it for video. This lens is absolutely on limit of weight and size. I wont want larger and heavier than that. Previously, I only had various M lenses on the SL 601. S Maclean Posted October 4, 2024 Share #43 Posted October 4, 2024 I’m verging on sacrilege. I have the M11 and the hasselblad x system (x2d and 907x) and made the horrible mistake of getting an sl3…: and I’m hooked. it’s a superb camera. I sold the q2 because I got it for my wife and she doesn’t use it, so I’m getting her a dlux8 instead. so, now…… I find they the sl3 with the m mount lenses it’s a superb light weight fool ( aged eye) proof. Plus then I can use it with the Al lens kit as needed. BUT, the M system has always been a source of inspiration and joy for me….. so I have 3 systems, 4 cameras….. good problem to have…. Except on the bank account.
Semerka Posted October 16 Share #44 Posted October 16 Resurrecting an old thread since I wanted to add my 2 pence. 🙂 I had a Q3 43 as an every day and travel camera. Then I acquired a used SL2. After much deliberation I sold the Q3 43 because I prefer the ergonomics of the SL2. I gelled more with the SL2 probably because I always used to have SLR's and then DSLR's in the past. Anyway, as a lightweight zoom I use the Leica APO Vario-Elmarit TL 55-135 f/3.5-4.5, which gives me 82-200 mm on the SL2. I do loose 20 odd MP which I can live with. The photos are still just over 20 MP. I find the lens sharp with nice colour rendering. And it is lightweight, only some 547g. I am still deciding on lightweight options in the 35mm and 50mm zone. The M mount lenses look very tempting. The hindrance is the cost and I am not sure if I can give up autofocus.

Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 is a small, low-weigt zoom alternative. 2
LeicaR10 Posted October 17 Share #46 Posted October 17 Semerka, Helged in his post #45 gave you some good advice. My two cents would include your taking a look at the Leica 35 or 50 Summicron-SL lenses. Both are excellent AF lenses, light and render in a excellent way. You can find image examples of these lenses in the L mount forum image threads. These two lenses which ever you choose, won't break your bank account either. If you go the 35 or 50 Apo Summicron-SL lenses, these are in a class of their own and more expensive. But if you want a M lens, either 35 or 50 M Summicrons are great too. The good news you have choices that only you can decide what best for your genre(s) of photography. r/ Mark 1
hoolyproductions Posted October 17 Author Share #47 Posted October 17 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since I posted this thread I've had a Q3 43 for over a year and it has completely solved my light kit conundrum. The Q28 didn't really work for me but the 43mm focal length is a perfect compromise for my style of shooting and I don't mind missing the wide shots. I do of course prefer the ergonomics of my SL3, so am very glad to own both. I have hardly used my lighter SL lenses since getting the Q3 43, sticking mainly with the APOs and 24-90mm. I had the 55-135mm when I had the Leica CL. It is indeed a fantastic lens, but I've always talked myself out of acquiring on for my SL cameras with the reasoning that for a little more weight I can use my 90mm SL APO and still get a full frame image at 90mm, an APS-C crop at 135mm (but from an even better lens that can go to f2) and still crop to 200mm 'in a pinch'. The 90mm f2.8 Sigma can also do this and is lighter than the 55-135mm. Of course it is also nice to be able to zoom and frame directly in camera, so I am not saying it is a bad choice 1
Semerka Posted October 17 Share #48 Posted October 17 Thank you for your inputs. 🙂 I do miss the quality of the Q3 43 APO lens, that really spoilt me. Now I want a lightweight version of that for my SL2, hehe!
