I observed the following phenomenon during SL3 usage:

In review mode, when the right dial is turned in anti-clockwise direction and the overview with 9 thumbnails is displayed, all the thumbnails appear very blurry and low-resolution, to the point where the subject nor the background could be intelligibly made out.

Once a particular image is selected and enlarged for singular display, it instantly snaps back into perfect focus.

Both my CFe and SD cards are at optimum speed.

Is this normal behavior or a bug? Thank you in advance for replies.

It is quite possible that the camera uses embedded JPGs for the small previews and generated JPGs for full display.

I was a user of the first generation SL(Typ 601) and the SL2-S but never was this a problem until now with the SL3, did something change with this generation and is there something I can do to fix it so that JPGs for full display are generated for all view modes?

It’s not a bug. The thumbnails serve exactly their purpose.

In the case of head shots, at the current resolution the thumbnails show no facial details at all. Having to enlarge every single picture to occupy the whole screen makes the 9-thumbnails overview quite limiting to, say,  when you want to quickly pick a facial expression in a series of images.

Nothing you can do. It is just the way the camera works.
