Hi,

Today i received the D-Lux 8. What a nifty little camera. Happy about it. There is only a small quirk at the moment.

When you want to shoot the LCD Screen is automatically on. With the Eye sensor it changes to the evf if you bring your eyes to the EVF. That Is the auto setting.

I am able to select the EVF but then everything is on the EVF. Menu, image reviewing, and shooting. Is it possible to disable the LCD screen except for the menu and image reviewing?

Is that an option in the D-Lux 7?

and might it be an option in the future?

What you describe is Leica's very useful EVF extended mode. Unfortunately, neither D-Lux 7 nor 8 have implemented it.

There are other settings. They certainly exist on my old DL-109 so should exist on the DL-8

They actually dropped a lot of features from the D Lux 7, I guess this is part of reworking the menu.

I miss for example to the focus stepping (switch between common primes) and being able to set a default zoom which was there before,

However, I hope that such missing and dropped features will be upgraded in the next firmware. Maybe they released with some features missing to ensure that they get the camera out on time with firmware that is somewhat stable?
