Just to be clear I used the "move" option to import into LrC, not "Copy or Add," from a new Lexar CF B via ProGrade card reader when this first happened.  After that import was the only time there was an issue with any files.  Now that I think about it I had previously connected the SL3 directly to an iPad and viewed the files through LR, but did not import. All of the photos were completely fine then.  Only issue came when I imported into LrC using reader.  I imported some files the next week with the card reader from a SanDisk CF card used many times before, but only by direct connection to the camera, and got some more corrupted files.  Today's import with all files completely fine was with the SanDisk again but this time directly connected to camera.  The eliminated variable here would appear the be the card reader and/or it's cable.  Until the import the files were fine in the camera.  I am trying to clearly explain this so as not to provide fodder to those who seem to so enjoy kicking the SL3.  So, if it's not clear what happened here, in this case, please let me know.

Update with testing.

Today I shot 175 pics, 38 on each CF express B and 47 on Lexar SD and 52 on SanDisk SD in the SL3.  All shot as DNG's and imported into LrC which is how I first experienced this issue.

First - I imported all directly from the camera using the supplied Leica cable and zero issues, all files fine.

Second - I imported using a SanDisk Image Pro with it's own cable but only the SD cards as it doesn't take CF express which I did not know when I got it but all fine.

Third - I imported all using ProGrade reader, with which corrupted files originally occurred, but this time with the Leica cable supplied with the SL3 instead of ProGrade cable and all files were fine.  CF express B and SD.

Fourth - I imported using the ProGrade reader and cable that came with the reader.  First card was original card I had the issue on, the Lexar 128GB CFeB, and it completely failed this time.  LrC did not pop in the photos on connection.  I selected the card in LrC and it only said "no photos to import" I think, or whatever it says.  Then tried to access directly from desktop and no files were shown.  I then inserted the SanDisk CFeB and LrC recognized it and all photos imported just fine as did both SD cards.  I then popped Lexar CFeB in the SL3 and it gave the "This file cannot be read" error message.

In summary, I could only reproduce the issue with the ProGrade reader and the supplied ProGrade cable.  All was fine with the ProGrade reader and the Leica cable supplied with the SL3.  Actually, it was far worse this time as the files were not just "corrupted" on the Lexar CFeB card, they were essentially eliminated.

In 20 years history of digital cameras I did not hear of any case similar from any brand, that the camera is overwriting files on the card in certain circumstances. The SL3 is out for 4+ months and Leica still doesn’t have a solution. What are their priorities? Another fashion M version with big sales margin? So annoying.

Wrong thread. This one is about ALScott's specific issues, which appear not to be related to the SL3, but rather to the cable used for downloading.
