Yeah that’s understandable. Up to what degree of features does it lose its simplistic nature, idk. But it’s nice that it isn’t super complicated at the moment (relatively compared to some other brands) . A part of me took the M line as Leicas true nature, while the CL, SL, and Q were to get their foot in the competition with other modern cameras (also my opinion). Either way, I’ll leave it up to Leica since they have all the information/statistics/data to make better decisions than what I think

Unfortunately what is at issue (IMO) is that the original concept of the Q…a full frame, simple camera with a great lens and build quality has fallen prey to those who want a do everything wonder camera with every bell and whistle imaginable.

There are a slew of cameras on the market that have those features…many Q users (again just my opinion) would like the Q to remain true to its roots.

Very few cameras have the X-pan option (only MF cameras, I believe).

Q cameras already have four aspect ratio settings. Adding a fifth one, hidden in the Aspect Ratio submenu, would really not affect camera’s simplicity and would be unique among FF cameras.

And on and on and on….

Yep, that’s what I was hoping. So I believe some Fuji medium format and aps-c have the 65:24 aspect ratio option. Also Panasonic s5 series and s9 have it too believe.

Yes, the Panasonics as well. Sonys and Nikons do not have it.

And you have to include the X2D 100c which has the 65:24 aspect ratio and they can even call it “XPAN” 😀  The X2D’s ability to set it into XPAN mode is wonderfully executed as well, as you can set the opacity level to view the surrounding areas above and below the crop. It’s the reason why I bought one.

I've been really hoping they add this xpan 65:24 aspect ratio to the Leica Q3. I know ppl have added tape and stuff to their screen to simulate the experience, but I'd rather not since it may make other things inconvenient. I've tried using the feature request on the ios Leica Fotos app, but it throws some error saying I can't do it on mobile. I know others have already suggested the 65:24 ratio to Leica (or so it seems), but I hope they see this and add it. Should be a simple software change right?

Ignore the old mantra “but at my times we did xxx” like we are still in 1940 and send an email request to Leica. If enough people do so, and if they think it’s worth it, Leica will add it. That’s how we got PDAF and the tilt screen, despite the same old people on this forum claiming you should just squat.
