I watched him try for about 10 minutes to figure out how to open the cover and still hold on to the perch.  He finally gave up and climbed down.  SL2 with VE24-90.

Ultimately, the squirrels get what they want. At least, that's been my experience. If they can't break into the feeder they'll eat the seeds that the birds drop to the ground. They are smart little critters.
