See my post # 4. And the digital M-P's finder is 'accurate' at 2 meters (post # 12). Yup, .7 m as I thought. The digital Ms changed from .7m on the original M8, to 2m on the M8.2 (and upgraded M8), then 1m on the M9 platform, and finally to 2m on subsequent digital Ms. I’ve been using M cameras since the mid-80’s, without issues, but I do prefer the 2m optimized frame lines for my typical shooting style. In general, I like to frame with extra space anyway, since that makes it easier when I print and cut custom mats for framing. Jeff

Michael Geschlecht Posted May 17, 2024 Share #22 Posted May 17, 2024 (edited) Hello Everybody, With an M3 the rangefinder in the range/viewfinder focuses from Infinity to just under 1 meter. At an image magnification of 0.91X. M3 frames do NOT show the 1/2mm of added captured exposed negative/transparency image on each side of the image frame which would be covered by a slide mount. Given the above: The 50mm frame has rounded corners to show a person what would be covered by a Kodachrome slide mount, The 50mm frame, which is always there & never goes away, displays, as explained above, what will be captured inside of the frame by a 50mm lens, & some shorter focal length lenses, when those lenses are focused at 1 meter/40 inches. The 90mm frame, which comes & goes as needed, shows what will be captured, as explained above, when a 90mm lens is focused at 1 meter. The 135mm frame, which comes & goes as needed, shows what will be captured, as explained above, when a 135mm lens without goggles is focused at 1.5 meters/60 inches. Various fixed & removable "goggled" lenses, etc. may have different coverage distances.
