I’ve done the update, said ‘yes’ to saving user profiles, which are presumably on my SD card , but it didn’t offer me the opportunity to put them back in. How do I reload them from the card?

In the Menu... Page 4 -> User Profile -> Manage Profiles -> Import Profiles

I updated, and the camera appears to be working perfectly…. However all previous updates I have done using the Fotos App; today I updated by downloading the new firmware to my laptop and copying it to the SD card, but this time the file count has been reset to zero. Any ideas why when installing the update ‘the-old-fashioned’ way, the file count is reset? Thanks.

maybe because the camera doesn't save the file name onto the device memory while updating. If you format the card before updating, this info might get deleted in the registry. Try leaving the last file on the card before updating and the file count might not reset. Or copy the last file onto the camera now and keep shooting. file count will count on

Yes, it appears that there are no release notes in English.  And my Chinese, Russian, etc is a bit rusty.  ;<)

Interesting thank you… It’s not big deal, just a little frustrating…. I did not format the SD card, however it did not have any images on it… (I just took it out the camera) I will use the App next time, and hopefully avoid this… C.

Verbesserungen:

- Kamera startete nicht, wenn zuvor der Startvorgang durch Ausschalten der Kamera unterbrochen wurde.

- Camera did not start if the start process was previously interrupted by switching off the camera.

- Correction of errors in the firmware.

The Fotos app had the same release notes.  I was interested to know what the 'Correction of errors in the firmware' covers.

Phew, yes that worked. Many thanks to you and Jonas for pointing me in the right direction. Incidentally, shouldn’t the update process do this automatically?

@SLamb Usually the firmware contents are not limited to what is officially listed: it contains only the main arguments covered by the new release, but many others are not mentioned.

This happens for different reasons: sometimes the modification are really very very minor, so to no deserve a description, other times they are of no end user interest (i.e. an improving/fix  in the content of the internal logfiles, which an end user will never see) or something like that.

Firmware modification happens very frequently, and unless they are very important to deserve an immediate release, usually are piled all together in a single release (otherwise new versions should  be released too much frequently).

In any case in 99%  of the releases not ALL the modification introduced are officially listed in the release notes 😉

During the update process, it will ask you if you want to save your profiles.  Unfortunately, after the update process, you must import the profiles manually.  Kind of a weird process.

Lost all my profiles and didn't get asked if I wanted to save them (used the FOTOS app) - pretty pissed off now!

Forget that - went to Manage profiles, import profiles and everything is back including my favorites menu

1) before updating take a foto with the lens cap on or something trivial you don't mind loosing. update the firmware. take a picture and look if your count has reset or not.

if 1) doesn't work you can try this:

2) copy the last image you took with your Q3 from your PC onto the SD card of the Q3 and take another picture. The image count will continue

This is great.  Thank you!  My email didn't have any details.  I think the improvements address the major issues that I've seen.  I've experienced a few of them but taking the battery out and then reinserting it and starting it again, usually fixed it.  More so than any camera maker, Leica eventually addresses the issues and listens to its customers. Thanks for posting the notes!

Thank Den 👍 I guess it is my 40 years in the software and tech business that piques my interest in knowing everything about a software update but, as you say, the major functional changes have been itemised.  We certainly didn't disclose to clients every code change if it wasn't materially affecting the functionality.
