The guy in the sunglasses was taken with the Lumix 50mm 1.8, the others 28mm Elmarit.

You are content without an EVF and with zone focusing, which is no criticism of your approach to photography, but those of us who value an EVF and autofocusing will quickly bulk up this camera with add-on EVF and larger AF lenses, like the Sigma fp before it and even the Leica TL2 (I had both of those).

I look forward to seeing a comparison between the S9 and the Sigma fpl.

I am curious why, for your style of shooting, you prefer the S9 to a digital M.

Not sure why you think I said I prefer shooting with the S9 to the M?

What I was trying to say is first of all I shoot 95% of the time with the M11M and sold my M11 because with owning a Q3 and an SL2-S, it made no sense in my line up.

For $1500 it's a no brainer to try and I have been waiting and wishing Leica would make a CL2, which is pretty much what the S9 is to me.

The S9 has a chance to displace the Q3 as it's a bit smaller and I can use L mount and M lenses as well and it's nice to have fast autofocus sometimes.

I have a Sigma 24mm 3.5 en route and that will help decide if the S9 is for me.

For the money the S9 can't be beat..but as said, I'd spend double to not have the Lumix interface.

While I am 'content' not to have an EVF, I'd still prefer to have one, even if I don't use it all that much. I loved the CL and hope they make a Leica version of this camera..with EVF would be nice but obviously not imperative for me.

I misunderstood, sorry. I was mislead by your enthusiasm for the S9!

I can see how you thought that but my bread and butter is my 542 gram black M11M.. I don't need anything else. While I will try to consider the S9 to replace the Q3, it's doubtful as the color science of the Q3 is pretty much the same as the M11 and is astounding.

Here's a couple of Q3 images.

In comparison with my Sigma fp it has some features I miss. In first view: the flip screen, manual registration of M lenses, the flash shoe to be able to use a viewfinder.

There is no mechanical shutter in the fp too. The introduction of a mechanical shutter in the S6 would cause a dramatic redesign. I don't think, that Panasonic has forgotten to build in one.  🫠

An EVF would be nice. A loupe is a not very useful aid.

I was surprised how useful and fun the flip screen made the S9.. I never used one much..great for street and also helps see the screen better to avoid glare a bit.

Good point, I'll add a PS to Andreas!

Rather than adding a mechanical shutter to S9ii, or CLii, or fpiii, or whatever, I imagine that Pana/Leica/Sigma will add a global (or instantaneous) shutter when this technology is sufficently mature and available at an acceptable cost. But my imagination has failed before… That being said, lets focus on what we have, and to best utilise the tools available. Personally, I like the concept offered by S9. In my case, as a supplement to SL3.

Looks tiny to me, the Lumix 18-40mm zoom, possibly 40-45mm thick (or better, thin).
