fotografr Posted May 6, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Okay, new Q3 owner here. I've read the quick start, read the instructions and watched two videos totaling about 2 hours. Still, I have an issue I can't figure out. In the menu under User Profile, the camera is currently set for the Default Profile. Under that, there are five places to set User profiles, however they are all grayed out so I am unable to select any. Does anyone know why this is? Am I doing something wrong? Siriusone59 Posted May 6, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 6, 2024 If the Q3 is like either of my Leicas, you have to save your profile first. Whatever your current camera settings are, drive mode, Iso, file type...etc, will be saved as a profile that you get to name and that name will occupy one of those grayed out places. Then you select that profile later and all your settings will return to what it was when that profile was created.
Le Chef Posted May 7, 2024 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2024 You first of all have to create a profile of the settings you want to keep and use again. That could be for landscape, street, portrait etc. You work your way through the settings you you want and then go to “User Profile” on page 4 of the menu. Then go to “Manage Profiles” then “Save as Profile” Save it and then chose a name for it. Thats Profile 1. Repeat the process for up to 6 profiles. Anytime you want to use a profile you just call it up from then you call it up from the opening screen.

Aram Langhans Posted May 7, 2024 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2024 Hey Brent. Welcome to the Q3 club. Many plusses and a few minuses that hopefully will be turned to plusses as firmware improves. I love profiles. I wish my Nikon Z7 had the equivalent. Makes it so easy to play around with settings while shooting and then very quickly get back to a basic setting so you don't have to go through menu/button items to return to "normal".

Among all the problems we complain about, that's a very good point! 😀 David
