Yes, that is true. A double tap centers the focus point even in EVF extended mode. 

But I can't fathom how you can double-tap with the nose. It is hard enough with the finger :).

You are correct! I just tested this out. Even with the settings you and I are using (post #15), a double tap on the darkened LCD does in fact re-center the AF field!  I'm glad you have to double press or this might be annoying. Thanks for noticing that. It's nice to know that you can do that.

I guess Leica engineers could predict accidental double taps, but they are apparently possible. You could send a request via Fotos app to add option to disable double tap to center.
