I definitely notice this on my SL3 and my 35 SL APO.  Image comes out about a stop brighter than what you see in the viewfinder.  If you pay attention to the histogram it's not a real issue, other than being a little annoying.

It does not happen with my 24-90 SL zoom or with any of the Lumix S-Pro lenses, nor does it happen with any of my Sigma lenses that I noticed.

Leica needs to get on it and fix this for sure.  These are not quirks we should be dealing with on a system of this level.

Thanks everyone for bringing this issue up....

I was wondering for some time what configuration I set wrong, since I have 1...1,5 EV difference between the overexposed RAW file compared to my impression from the EVF with SL3, Apo 2/75, Apo 2/28 and Apo 2/21... This was new for me, this wasn't the case with SL, SL2 and Sl2-S!

And to be clear: such a deviation (as compared to the previous SL-models) should be corrected ASAP, since it's a clear fundamental inconsistency by deviating from the crucial WYSISYG-principle that was baseline for the previous SL-models (remember the breaktru viewfinder on the first SL?).

And by the way: the Q3 43 (as was my Q3 28 before) is much more consistent between EVF and RAW-DNG!

I came here looking for a resolution of my problem and I see, it is quite common.

Just to let you know that, I recently bought Leica SL (601) from Leica Classic Store and I have the same issue on an autofocus lens.
However, what I noticed, and previously noted, it will not change on fully opened lens.
The problem is highly unpredictable, meaning, at 2.8 it does darker in resulting image.
So, I have to overexpose to get a darker image but I also get brighter images ... sometimes, so no, it is not workable unless I go fully opened.
And yesterday I ran out of shutter speed. :)

SL 601? I may have  missed something but I don’t think it is affected by this problem which is specific to the SL3. What you are seeing is the autof ocus point being linked to the exposure point. Changing one affects the other, obviously.

In that case have the camera checked out by the vendor. It is an individual fault. I suspect that you have a setting in the menu (exposure simulation? PASM?) wrong  as this has not been reported as an 601 bug over all these years. It is linked to a few APO lenses. What lens do you use?

So Not an affected camera, nor an affected lens. I suggest that you check your menu settings and if that does not resolve your issues contact the Leica Classic Store. They can determine whether there is an issue with your specific camera or help you find the setting that causes your problem.

PAS, PASM doesn't matter. The same happens

If I were sure that the problem were solved only with firmware I would buy the camera, but if it would be necessary to send the camera to correct the hardware, then NO.

The last is quite unlikely.
If this is so important to you, I would advise strongly against buying the camera.

I'm only giving one opinion. The decision  to buy or not....I'm not in a hurry! For the moment is better to wait.

@FMB Here for sure is only that after more than a year Leica has its premium camera that does not work properly. No respect for customers, a shame. Do not buy it.

I own both the SL3 and SL2-S with a mixture of zoom and fixed Leica lenses. Can't say I've ever noticed any issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend the SL3 to anybody.

@geoffc60--agree with you I have the SL2 and SL 3 with assorted lenses and wonderful cameras, no issues at all. I just watch my histogram, expose to the right, and all good. As @jaapv had stated no camera is 100% flawless, especially when these modern cameras are computers with lenses. Do I wish my SL's tracked and locked on to a fast moving bird like  some of the other brands, of course I do but they do not I accept that and love the cameras for what they can do.

I used a combination of Canon R3 and R5 previously and a mixture of high end Canon L glass for several years and even that had issues and limitations. AF was far from perfect for one thing. Build quality could have been better also. Not in the same league as my Leicas.

I agree the SL's are built like a tank. Lenses seem fine as well, had an issue with the 24-90 brand new after a year or so start to grind when I zoomed in and out--seems a screw had come loose internally, Leica repaired it under warranty. I have had assorted issues with all brands and lenses over the years, stuff just happens like it or not.

Me too. I've to recognize that when I bought my  SL2 , at the beginning it was  borne, its firmware failed in several areas. Some months and years later the SL2 is a delicious. I need  another body to assemble all my equipment of cameras and lenses and yes,  I'm in a relative hurry because at my near 88 🤓, it's necessary to do it for ¡my children! (all of them around the 50th).😇

May  be you now understand my deep doubts.

Francisco.
