Lesslemming Posted April 21, 2024 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) You must understand, I am constantly looking for a nice bag to fit all my beautiful Leica gear. It just goes so nicely with the hobby. So, I was looking for a sleek, minimalist but stylish bag for every day carry that offers enough protection and space for my Leica M10 monochrome. I have carried a 3L everyday sling bag from Peak Design for a long time and have fond memories of it, but I just needed something a bit more special. Grams28 or Grams(28) is a Hong-Kong based company specialised in premium leather bags. Some of them intended for cameras, others just ordinary everyday bags. I will not lie, I was worried about taxes and overseas shipping but I am happy to report everything worked out completely free of issues. Taxes were collected in advance and delivery was just under 14 days, thanks to their participation in the IOSS system. So that was a pleasant surprise. I was also worried buying such an expensive bag "from China" because of quality concerns. But then I remembered that, Hong-Kong in particular, is where a lot of high-end, premium brands are located. So, I bit the bullet. The bag itself is made of unmistakeably high quality leather. I personally would have liked a non-pebbled leather but must say it looks and feels awesome. No bad odour (besides new leather smell, of course) and supple, yet strong build. Interior padding leaves nothing to desire in my view and seems totally adequate to protect a 15kUSD+ equipment within reason. I feel the lining is much softer than for example what Peak Design uses. The zippers move freely and have rain protection. Take note that there is no built-in theft protection -which I don’t mind- but everyone may open the zippers unnoticed. The interior is remarkably spacious. I am able to pack more into it than in my 5L everyday sling. A Leica M10 body fits snuggly and doesn't wiggle around, nor does it bulge out the bag. Although 1 centimetre more depth wouldn't have hurt. There is enough height, of course to accommodate a half-case or visioflex if you pack the camera upright. This however may limit the size of the lens you can have attached. Currently it holds with ease: 1.- Leica M10 with lens (e.g. 75mm f/2 APO) 2.- Additional lens 3.- Wallet, Keys with thick car keys, cleaning cloth, passport etc. My only complaint has been mentioned in other reviews before: The strap feels cheap. The fittings are totally okay, but the material of the strap itself feels stiff and not nice. It is my understanding that, apart from the leather pad, the upgrades you can buy with your bag directly are made out of the same material. There is so much better Nyon material out there, which of course allows for the possibility to just go and grab a different strap from a different company and put it on the bag. I simply recycled the strap from my 3L sling which required a tiny bit of work but it does the job and looks and feels darn good. Other than that: High quality Fast and hassle-free shipping Would recommend (Images show the bag holding an M10-M with Voigtländer 35mm f/1.2 III, keys, wallet, papers and one free compartment for an additional lens. Note that I attached a peak design strap instead of the original one) Welcome, dear visitor! Dai Nguyen Posted June 18, 2024 Share #7 Posted June 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I plan to buy this one as well; I couldn't decide between it and the Billingham Mini Eventer. But I'm thinking that if I get a sling bag, it won't be big enough to carry all of my travel needs at the size I prefer that does not appear like I am carrying a dead body inside. This bag is more appropriate for a day out with my Leica setup to focus on photography and possibly a pocket 3 for vlogging. In comparison to the mini eventer, this bag can be wear up or down more easily. I understood that the Billingham Eventer was meant for events as well, but most people who first look at it tell me the bag looks a bit casual, maybe for wedding and so on. But for dinner night out, probably not. To summarize, I plan to buy this bag for my photography walk day out and one good camera back bag that holds all of my travel gear, including my photography setup, video, drone, and FPV drone. Did you purchase the padded strap as well? How do you like it?
dugby Posted June 19, 2024 Share #8 Posted June 19, 2024 Over many years of camera bag purchases, I have finally chosen for security reasons : front cross body sling bags. I bought and used a full leather Coach Camden cross-body sling bag which easily accommodates my M10-R with 50APO and 35FLE, But this leather bag is 660g More recently I prefer this smaller and lighter nylon 340g Swissgear cross-body bag, which accommodates my M10-R with 50APO attached Welcome, dear visitor!
