I had the S007 and was thinking of getting the S3. I have reviewed the differences and the only Major difference is the Resolution. Higher Mpx. The side by side of both cameras almost look Identical
I an anyone add light to this subject. TY

I shoot mainly Portraits and Family Group shots. I am NOT a Landscape photographer  Thank you

I think the color in both cameras is able to be made very nice via profiles or adjustments. Personally the tuning of both was not as much to my liking as the S006 and S2, but both are good, especially with Cobalt Imaging profiles or Capture One. If you do not need the resolution, I think there is very little reason to spend the extra on the S3, which I guess is still more than double or even triple the cost of the S007 these days. Additionally, I believe the S007 has slightly greater dynamic range, which is likely to be more useful to you than extra resolution in your use case.

Rollsman,  There is no cure for GAS.  I went to GAS rehab three times...no cure.  My solution was to simply use discipline and always ask the question;  What is the new camera going to do that my current camera cannot do?   It normally gets down to "Needing" and "Wanting".  Do you Need a S3 or do you Want a S3?  I had both for my business.  Simply put, Leica perfected the red color channel in the S3. I found the S3 files needed very little to no PP it is that good. IMO, its a better camera for portraits, fashion, people (skin tones) and better sensor.  Your call and wallet....IMO get the S3...GAS be damned...LOL.  r/ Mark

Here are the improvements in the S3 over the 007:

- more resolution (64MP)
- higher, cleaner ISOs from its dual-gain architecture.
- a little more dynamic range
- better video: 4K across the entire sensor width, rather than a cropped sensor.
- better skin tones
- improved color, especially in the red channel
- 8 minutes maximum exposure (up from 2 minutes)
- better focusing (in my opinion)
- it’s a new camera. More resale value. More longevity.

From what I understood it had slightly less DR than the S007...not so sure about high ISO either. I found it was not very usable as a high ISO camera because of all the banding and magenta contamination. Even the SL2 was better in my experience. It had a bit more grain, but the colors were much better preserved. I found the color a step back from the rest of the S cameras. Never noticed an improved red channel, but I know that was in the marketing. I found the stock profile was particularly bad with Adobe Color...basically desaturated shadows to try to cover the magenta contamination and a kind of very slight clarity applied. The cobalt imaging profile solved that issue for me, and I think it was a lot better in Capture One as well. If you are interested, I would implore you to try it on the basis that you can return it. I wish I had been given that courtesy. As it was I had to eat thousands in loss in reselling it.
