malfaris Posted April 5, 2024 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi see most of the villages (from photos) seems to have tight path, I am thinking of taking both 35mm summilux and 24mm summilux as I like to shoot with both M10R and M10M, another option take the 50mm Summilux instead of 24mm just because of weight and bulk of the 24 f1.4, however I am used to use my 50mm Summilux for portrait mostly and using for street photgrahy would be new perspective for me. also another option I am thinking of Voigtlander 28mm f/2.0 Ultron type II (lightweight) , being f2 might help at night and can replace 24mm summilux and 50mm summilux. so my setup would be 35mm on the M10R and 28mm on the M10M during the night and maybe while hiking take 21mm and 28mm on each. also for far away landscape I am taking 90mm Apo as it did really well on my trip to Switzerland shooting far distance landscape , so the 90mm is must and f2 is helpful despite being heavy I plan to mostly use it from the car. 21mm super elmar for landscape , its a must especially at day time even in cities so thinking of 35lux, 28 Voigt , 90mm and 21mm. for keeping it light being tight space (not sure) 24mm lux might be better than 35lux? or take both 24lux and 35lux for night photography /street photography ? is f1.4 big advantage on f2 on M10M my guess not? malfaris Posted April 5, 2024 Author Share #2 Posted April 5, 2024 forgot to mention that it will be raining the whole week when I am there so how to handle rain with my M cameras as didnt face this challenge before and that's why I am thinking of taking my trusty canon R5+24-105mmf4 which I don't enjoy using like my M cameras but it gets the job done in the rain with ease. andybarton Posted April 5, 2024 Share #3 Posted April 5, 2024 List what lenses you have. I would have thought that 21/24/28/35 in your bag was overkill, to be honest.
TomB_tx Posted April 5, 2024 Share #4 Posted April 5, 2024 When I toured Scotland by bike I found 40mm on my film CL worked well. I chose shots to fit the lens, not the other way around. If I went today I’d just take a 35 on my M10.
Marc B-C Posted April 5, 2024 Share #5 Posted April 5, 2024 (edited) @malfaris your assumption that all villages have tight paths (narrow streets?) is too generalised. Where in Scotland are you going? Scotland is a great country with major cities and small villages and great landscapes. If you assume you are going to some cities, some small villages and through some great landscapes, just kit yourself like you would normally do for those different scenarios. I like that setup , but coming to Scotland isn't an easy trip todo again , and having a car make carry more gear easier . also I am traveling alone so I have all day for photography
kgs Posted April 5, 2024 Share #8 Posted April 5, 2024 Hello, My recommendation: sell your lenses except for the 28, 35, 50 and 90 and your questions will answer themselves. Greetings
