RMF Posted March 24, 2024 Share #1  Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Just an as an FYI - for those that like unique cameras I was a Leica’s grand opening of their new NYC Meatpacking district boutique and they have for sale a handful of M11-P that they had made up using the Reporter’s Kevlar to commemorate their opening. They were in silver and black and I was told they only had a few made up- same price as an M11-P. They had both silver in black when I was there a couple days ago. Beautiful new store and well worth stopping by if you are near/visiting NYC. Welcome, dear visitor! dugby Posted March 24, 2024 Share #2  Posted March 24, 2024 Ahh but surely to a reporter with a knife wound or bullet ricochet damage to their aramid body armour is a badge of honour in getting their stories ……
LeicaR10 Posted March 24, 2024 Share #3 Â Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) The special skinned "Aramid" (aka Kevlar) M11-P Reporter in NYC, LA, SF, CHI, DC, is definitely a must have.... Edited March 25, 2024 by LeicaR10

LocalHero1953 Posted March 26, 2024 Share #6 Â Posted March 26, 2024 Not all aramid-covered bodies fray. My Q2, heavily used for the last couple of years, is still unframed, though the green is turning to pale green-grey (as was advised at the time). My suspicion is that it's not the fibre that's a problem, but how it is fixed - perhaps insufficient attention given to adhesive along the cut edges. dkmoore Posted April 2, 2024 Share #8  Posted April 2, 2024 At least they kept the price the same. Only good thing.
brill64 Posted April 4, 2024 Share #9  Posted April 4, 2024 A little touch-up with matt-black paint around the edges should solve it🙂

Else, you may of course call Kevlar Kevlar. As with other trademarks, adding an "®" after using a trademark is always good practise (to make clear that the term in question is in fact a trademark). Kwesi Posted April 4, 2024 Share #11  Posted April 4, 2024 I think its time to rethink the oversized screw for the  M "P" and Monochrom versions.

I hear you. The M9-P. implementation was in my opinion more elegant. I feel that losing the illumination window in the move from M9 to M240 series created a "need to fill this space" problem for Leica's design team. The first attempt was the oversized red dot and the convex screw of the 240 series. then came the M10 with the standard red dot and the flat oversized screw that we have today that has become a standard but somewhat superfluous/overdesigned  design element. I would love to see Leica go back to either the M9P screw or something smaller and not be so overly concerned with filling the space that used to house the illumination window.

How about a nice emoji instead of the screw - you could customise the same as your Apple IPod case? Seriously, I like the industrial design with the screw left proudly on display.
Kwesi Posted April 6, 2024 Share #14  Posted April 6, 2024 What’s an iPod gramps? 😀 I honestly don’t mind the screw at all I just wish its size was closer to that of the film M’s so it looks more functional and less decorative. Anyway enough said. Let’s get back to the actual topic at hand.
