According to the source, Leica has registered a device model called “3952A”, and the model name of D-LUX 7 is “3952”.

The premium compact camera market is surely very popular these days. With the Fujifilm X100VI, Ricoh GR III, and even the Leica Q3, they all have huge demands. I can see why Leica & Panasonic need to revive/update the M43 compact camera (D-LUX & LX100).

I hope it is not just like what Panasonic did on G100 to G100D, which only has minor updates (OLED EVF & USB-C). I would expect it will use Panasonic G9’s new sensor, PDAF, and maybe a new lens.

Hoping for a significant update!  I have an X100V but never really bonded with its bloated menu and interface.  Loved the 109, a new D-LUX would be right up my alley as an everyday carry, as long as it can at least keep up with the iPhone.

Seen interesting, but confusing rumours online. Leica Rumors thinks it is a small refresh of the D-Lux 7 with some added features. As mentioned above, Panny not involved. Seen another rumour, Andrea Pizzini on YouTube saying it will be APSC sensor with fixed prime lens, to challenge Ricoh GR and X100 range, which apparently sell out as soon as they go on sale.
I am pretty sure I read that Leica were no longer involved with APSC, hence the demise of the CL. I doubt they would build a new compact with either 4/3 or APSC. As device model is just an extra A, suspect is small ‘upgrade’ to D-Lux 7, to refresh it and enable further limited editions to be produced on what they can call a ‘new’ camera.

I have a 7, really like it.  The latest rumors/articles show pictures, I like the new layout, the fact that it is a copy of sorts, of the Q3.  If menu navigating is the same as the  Q it will make switching back and forth a lot simpler.  While not much of a technical upgrade, the cosmetics make it tempting.  After it's out and in stock, one of the grand kids might be looking at a new (to them) D-Lux7.

Offering top quality in a digital compact camera, the Leica D-Lux 8 delivers versatile portability and a seamless user experience. Drawing inspiration from the Leica Q cameras, the D-Lux 8 features simplified and repositioned controls for improved comfort and operability. The eighth generation in D-Lux cameras, the D-Lux 8 utilizes a 17MP Four Thirds CMOS sensor and has a fixed 10.9-34mm f/1.7-2.8 lens which provides a 24-75mm full-frame equivalency. This is the first D-Lux model to feature DNG file support. Smartphone connectivity is easy with the Leica FOTOS app. Additionally, an on-camera flash is included, allowing you to reliably capture photos in various lighting conditions.
