ynp Posted May 2, 2024 Share #21 Posted May 2, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sent my 120mm for repair and got the notice : Repair note from Germany : Please note, a printed circuit is no longer available. In case it gets damaged we could not longer repair the lens. So the AF will no longer work. Due to the fact we will not take over any warranty. The risk is on customers side. We are missing a flexible board that could be damaged during repair/dismantling. If the flexible board is damaged, the lens can only be focused manually. Therefore, the repair is carried out at the customer's own risk, excluding any warranty. Took the risk because I have a HC120 f4 in my cabinet. yevgeny
Advertisement Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Hi ynp, Take a look here S lens motor dying - how to know?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stuart Richardson Posted May 2, 2024 Share #22 Posted May 2, 2024 That's frustrating...aren't they supposed to keep parts for ten years after something has stopped selling? As far as I can tell, you could buy a 120mm up to a year or two ago as new.

tom0511 Posted May 2, 2024 Share #26 Posted May 2, 2024 I also still love those lenses…still think for the price we once paid it should be possible to get service for soome more years. the iq (and imo also the handling) of the S system is still addictive . I hope Leica is keeping it going.
Stuart Richardson Posted May 2, 2024 Share #27 Posted May 2, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) My guess is that the very low number of users combined with the fairly low probability of an error means that they don't view it as economical to reorder the part. But it would certainly be very bad for that particular unlucky customer whose brilliant and still eminently usable 120mm might wind up being MF only. SlowDriver Posted May 4, 2024 Share #28 Posted May 4, 2024 Unacceptable in my opinion. This was a $8K lens that was being sold new up till less than a year ago. When Leica discontinued the Leica CL they guaranteed 5 years of servicing but only from the date of purchase. Unless you have proof that you bought the lens new within the last 5 years there might not be much you can do from a legal point of view. Which still does not make it acceptable in my book...

My S120 was bought with the S2-p pretty long time ago.

In today's world, many parts and assemblies are subcontracted and if the supplier goes out of business, it can mean that part is no longer available.
