A few images from W Norway with SL3 & Sigma 500mm f5.6 DG DN. Given the focal length, the Sigma 500 is a very small and low weight lens. With very good optical image stabilisation, so 1/60 s shutter speed works fine (sometimes ok down to 1/15 s, although 1/60 s is safer). Also excellent image quality with the Leica SL 1.4 extender. Click for a larger view; the lowermost photo is from a distance of about 4 km.

On my way back to the parking lot I found some surfers in the lineup so I thought I would do an impromptu test of the autofocus tracking capabilities of the SL3. I found that AFc and field focus worked best. I tried a few tracking with the various tracking profiles-- Wildlife, Runner, Team Sports, Children Pets, but found that all of those caused the focus area to jump to the water/waves, almost always leaving the surfer behind. Definitely more tests are needed, but certainly improvements can be made-- both on my part and on the camera's tracking/sticking capabilities.

This was taken in Borneo the other day—last year used the SL2 and Leica 100-400mm, this year used the SL3 and decided to bring the Sigma 150-600mm instead.

Very nice photo - but the first thing I thought upon viewing - I wonder how many times a day he gets that thing yanked?

Train Art - Night Trains Apo VE SL 90-280

I was out with both SL3 and SL2S early this morning. Although the SL2S seems better with grain at 1600 iso, the SL3 scrubs up very well indeed.
