I have the 70-200 Panasonic L mount lens, where I believe there is a firmware update. I don't have any Panasonic L mount cameras but I do have both a Leica SL601 and CL in L mount. Does anyone know if it is possible to update the Panasonic lens firmware via a Leica camera (I know it is unlikely but just hope that was part of the L mount alliance agreement).

Wilson I seem to think I have done this in the past without a problem.  Maybe you can read through this thread, the last post on page 2 goes through the process step by step.

Some seem to have struggled with the process but I think it should be possible.

Just did a search Wilson and it seems there is all the information you need here:

https://l-mount.com/webfile/show/EN_FW_UPDATE_L-MOUNT.pdf

LENS FIRMWARE
These instructions for updating the firmware for
the Leica SL / Leica SL2 / Leica SL2-S applies to
all lenses of the L-Mount Alliance. The latest firmware
for lenses from Panasonic or Sigma is available for
download on the website of the respective manufacturer.

SL successfully updated to 4.1 and accompanying Leica SL 24-90 also updated. Took a couple of tries to get the camera to update Panasonic 70-200 (Pro R series) lens to FW 1.2 but also now successfully accomplished. Noticeable speed up on focusing of the lens, which now very accurate and zippy. While updating the Panasonic lens, as I was holding the camera, one could feel various motors running and clicking inside the lens, presumably re-calibrating.
