Hi there,

For those who have the 50 Lux SL , which is a notorious slow AF lens on the SL and SL2/S , is it any faster on the SL3 ?

I understand its a older lens design ( SL wise ) and with problably weaker AF motors ( than the APO’s ) and its also lot of chunky glass to move , but wondering if the PDAF on SL3 makes any difference on the AF speed

Out of town but hopefully back Monday to pick up my SL3! I have the 50mm SL Lux along with an SL2 and will be able to test them side by side. I would think AF would be a bit faster with the SL3 / 50mm Lux but even if AF isn't faster, there is just something special about how this lens renders...😊

yes, the Summilux-SL is (slightly) faster with the SL3;

interestingly enough, I really liked this lens when I tested it with the SL3, because it delivers marvellous results with the new sensor

I second that

The last sentence I would rather not have read, as I was hoping not to buy a SL3.

I haven’t had a chance to get out yet - hopefully I’ll have some time this afternoon, but in my hands the 50 Lux SL is just barely far enough from the grip to avoid having my fingers pinched on the SL3.  I will say that even though it’s only a few mm different in height, I can no longer keep three fingers fully on the grip of the SL3 like I can with my SL2-S and I have to curl my pinky finger under the body.  Hopefully if RRS releases a bracket soon that will be all I need to keep the camera comfortable in hand.  As much as I’ve been doing more portrait orientation photography lately I’d rather not have to get the Leica vertical grip.

I think that many lenses make the camera front heavy, and the pinky does the supporting of the camera.

My friend lost part of his pinky and is discovering every day how many uses it has.

RRS is waiting to see how many people request one to get involved with the SL3

I have modified the RRL for Sl2 L bracket and made it work. It helps with holding the camera
