Le Chef Posted March 9, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I managed to take a look a the SL3 at my AD yesterday and it’s very nice, but still heavy. What is noticeable is the cleaned up UI with clearer type and better icons. Screen refreshes and transitions also appear to be smoother. I wonder whether we will see these improvements on the Q3 + “housekeeping” requests from owners to restore features that were on the Q2 but have since gone AWOL + correcting strange perceived errors in operation. Might we see these refreshes this autumn or next Spring at the possible launch of the Q3M?
Advertisement Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Hi Le Chef, Take a look here SL3 Tech and UI transfer to Q3?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Simone_DF Posted March 9, 2024 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2024 The processor in the Q3 is the same of the SL3, so why not? The new UI can be implemented via a firmware update.
AZach Posted March 9, 2024 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2024 The new UI looks quite nice and user-friendly. Currently using SL2-S together with Q3. If the UI will not be updated for Q3 will definitely not move to SL3. Working the old and new UI together would be too much for my aging brain…. egrossman Posted March 9, 2024 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2024 I sent an email to customer care at Leica making the request for the SL3 UI or the Q3; if enough people speak up, Leica may listen. 1

Miltz Posted March 10, 2024 Share #7 Posted March 10, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) What are the benefits of the new UI other than looks? I love the Q3 UI.

Easier to configure the way you want it. And it does all that without Fuji’s and Sony’s Jackson Pollock-like splatter of menu options.
haelio Posted March 10, 2024 Share #9 Posted March 10, 2024 Thanks for starting the request, Le Chef. I too have mailed customer.care@leica-camera.com now. Menu system consistency is an ergonomic feature that I value.

If they do it with the Q3 it likely/possibly will be preceded by a refresher for the M11.
ksrhee Posted March 10, 2024 Share #11 Posted March 10, 2024 My understanding is that the SL3 does not have the favorite menu right now. That might change in the future via firmware update, but until then, I am not interested.
Qwertynm Posted March 10, 2024 Share #12 Posted March 10, 2024 @Le Chef thought the whole point of a Leica is to not spend time in the menues 😉 (joking of course). Improvements to usability are always welcome. I hope Leica improves the behavior of the Fn buttons…
