Daniel Civetta Posted March 8, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) So after roughly 7 years of owning my M Typ 262, and years of travels, reportages and much more, I dropped it whilst photographing a gallery today (ironic, right?). The fall and impact was bad, like shoulder height onto concrete, unfortunately while tripping from a step so I couldn’t see the impact, as I was trying to not hurt myself. After grabbing it, I could tell something was off. There’s a hefty dent on the bottom cap, on the side so I’m guessing most of the damage started there. The screen, nor red light near it turns on. The shutter however, is still the loud, classic one it always had, and to my surprise, if I press it while the camera is “on” (On C, CS, or Q) it actually fires shots. However, when inserting the SD card in my laptop, photographs don’t show up. I noticed that the lens insert button is jammed down, as if it doesn’t properly press down and then releases up when the lens are mounted properly. I’m sure something with the pathfinder as well as when moving the focus ring on my Summarit 50mm 2.4, it feels different. I’ll bring it over the the Leica store tomorrow however, do you all think it’s a done deal? Anyone have some sort of similar experience? Thanks, Daniel C

RexGig0 Posted March 9, 2024 Share #5 Posted March 9, 2024 I empathize. I dropped my then-new M10 in May 2018. Shoulder height onto pavers. Simply reading your post causes me to feel sympathetic pain. My M10’s point of impact differed from your incident, the symptoms differed, and the actual damage was all internal, so, especially being a different model series, no real parallels exist, but, I would not be in complete despair. I hope that repair is possible!
