The firmware update that has the "unnoticed overwriting of existing recordings" fix is now available at Leica's main website, (In case you missed the news from a different thread.)

Navigate to the Service/Support/Downloads section. Then choose the category, "Leica SL-System."

It's SL3 firmware version 1.1.9. The firmware itself and the release notes are available for download. The release notes contain the instructions for the firmware update.

I wasn't able to update the firmware using the Fotos app, but it did update just fine using the memory card.

I'm still waiting, although I did not order from a Leica store but a 'third party' dealer in Finland (they gave me a very good exchange price for my SL2 so I decided to 'risk' it, knowing it would take longer. If I'd known it would be this long I might have just sold the SL2 on ebay and gone with a Lecia store).

Am a bit surprised you are still waiting as a few Leica stores are often having stock for immediate sale now, hope you get it soon.

I'm also very aware that the dark months are coming, was really hoping to get it for the summer but that's life 😊

Did the same I traded in my SL2 and some canon glass I wasn't using so maybe that's the reason why we're both waiting? lower priority for trade ins maybe?

Yeah been kind of shocked it's taking so long I guess Norway/Finland has lower priority when it comes to stock or now it's summer holidays so maybe that's why

In my case I don't think its about priority for trade ins, simply that I went with a non-Leica store and these are the last in line to get scarce supplies. My dealer has been pretty open that he only expects to get 1 camera every couple of months. I am next in line at least so hopefull still in the summer/early autumn.

I'd be very surprised if that was Leica store policy, trade in or not it should be first come first served - so perhaps Leica Oslo got less supply than larger countries that have been having occassional stock (Austria, UK etc).

Well, I placed a preorder with Leica Store Miami on March 7 and just received notice August 14 that they had an SL3 for me. Fortunately, I received one from another Leica store back in May. So I guess some dealers have much longer waitlists than others.

Guess so It’s just weird usually haven’t had to wait this long for Leica gear here in Norway with most of my M glass and cameras being a lot quicker so just curious what’s going on

I totally get it. I was beginning to wonder if Leica Store Miami forgot about me! It just took so long for them to contact me. Because there is no local Leica store near me I called several stores in the mainland US and got put on their wait lists. I began hearing from most stores in June and even heard from LA twice — I was debating getting a second SL3 and after their first call I asked them to put me at the end of the waitlist and call again to see if I had decided on a second copy. Ultimately I decided to stick with the SL2 as my backup. Simple reason, cost.

Some SL3 cameras are now trickling onto the Finnish market via the main importer. I got mine last week (the store was only allocated one camera, and I was top of the list). Hopefully you get yours soon :)
