rclompus Posted March 5, 2024 Share #1  Posted March 5, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just published a review of two new lenses from Light Lens Lab at PetaPixel:  https://petapixel.com/2024/03/05/light-lens-lab-1966-50mm-f-1-2-and-spii-50mm-f-2-review-rare-lenses-recreated/ The lenses are re-creations of historic lenses from Leica and Cooke. I suspect both will be very popular for photographers.  Tony Rose, is the U.S. distributor at PopFlash in Southern California (www.popflash.com).  I do not have any financial or consulting relationships with either company.  I am a retired optometrist who enjoys optics and photography. Enjoy. Advertisement Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Hi rclompus, Take a look here Review of the 1966 50/1.2 and SPII 50/2 Rigid Lenses from Light Lens Lab. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JoshuaR Posted March 6, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted March 6, 2024 Thank you for these. Both of these lenses are on my radar and these reviews are helpful!
Al Brown Posted March 6, 2024 Share #3 Â Posted March 6, 2024 I am scratching my head why you did not compare the LLL 50/1.2 with corresponding Noctilux 1.2, but rather with Noctilux 1.0 ???
Al Brown Posted March 6, 2024 Share #4  Posted March 6, 2024 Also, why are "sample images" tiny, a couple hundred pixels and non-clickable? And you did not mention the third finish of LLL 50/1.2 beside black and silver... Welcome, dear visitor! gammarART Posted March 6, 2024 Share #5 Â Posted March 6, 2024 Clickable sample shots would be nice. For me the bokeh looks not very smooth in the small samples. Anybody knows how the aperture blades form the bokeh highlights from 2.8 to 5.6? The Summilux Asph produces very ugly sawtooth formst highlights. rclompus Posted March 6, 2024 Author Share #6  Posted March 6, 2024 (edited) The reference books used to write the article have now been added to the end of the article for readers to go deeper in their understanding of Leica optics. Erwin Puts was a guiding light into analysis of camera optics. Welcome, dear visitor!
