dpitt Posted February 29, 2024 Share #21  Posted February 29, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I now notice that the Summicron shot is not up to par, maybe I did something different with this shot. This is from an other Summicron v1, and it looks better to me (sample variation ?) Both had a CLA.  Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Hi dpitt, Take a look here Which 50mm to pair with Summilux 35mm preAsph?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Sebastian S Posted March 13, 2024 Author Share #22  Posted March 13, 2024 follow-up: Lost in the 50mm jungle inbetween, then found a limited Heliar Classic 50mm f2, which renders more like the rigid Summicron. No glow like the preAsph 35mm, but also has a very classic rendering, which should be even more suitable for street photography. Will ad later a Summilux v1 or v3 to match the preAsph 35mm for dreamy portraits and more vintage characteristics wide open. Took a very long look at the Heliar 1.5 which is a superb lens for the price, but it's a tad to soft and glowy for my taste. thanks @all again !

Except the Summarit 1.5/50, which would be to much of character for me. I went through the same path sometime ago and I picked the NIKKOR-S 5cm f1.4 LTM (too bad, not from Leica) to pair with my 35 Lux pre-asph V2. Here are some pics for your reference. First Leica, second Nikkor, all at f1.4. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I replaced it with a 50mm summicron Dual Range and found exactly the classical rendering I was looking for. Not exactly like the 35mm preAsph, but still very "retroish". I am sure this is a keeper, some day maybe combined with a Summilux, but for now i do love this combo! Welcome, dear visitor!
