Just checking a new to me MP and discovered a small dark dot on the circular white meter patch when the shutter is cocked.

My first though was sun damage, although there are no melt marks surrounding it and no light visible through it when I shine my LED torch either sides.

Is it possible it is contamination in the paint when applied to the shutter curtain.

What type of touch up paint would be recommended if I decided to try ?

Thanks

There was discussions about this the other month, I would not mind it and I think the conclusion of that discussion was the same - no problem. But if it really irritates you, send the camera to me and ill recycle it free of charge 😉

The white point of my MP from 2003. For 160 iso I put 250 iso and it's perfect.

See the manual, p94:

https://leica-camera.com/sites/default/files/pm-73015-Leica-MP_Instructions_de-en.pdf

'The uneven coverage of the white paint is not the
result of faults in production. Rather, it is due to
the fact that it is not possible to apply a sealed,
thick coat of paint to the flexible rubber blanket of
the shutter without impairing the shutter function.

The uneven structure of the metering spot in no
way impairs the exposure result.'

I wouldn't mess with it. At best, touching up the paint won't improve the metering accuracy. At worst, it might 'impair the shutter function'.
