JasonSF Posted November 27, 2007 Author Share #23 Â Posted November 27, 2007 Im heading out to buy a 40D to swap him. Â p.s. Damn. Looks like he is happy now. Â Hey, now now. Â I was always happy, and am indeed a huge loyal Leica fan. But when you are soooo excited about getting something and it does not work properly, you call the shop and they know nothing. etc etc. then it will not work with your brand new laptop and new software, one does feel grrrrrrr. Â However, it is next to me on my desk now. So at lunch I am going to have a walk outside and give it a try. Â Thanks again
rob_x2004 Posted November 27, 2007 Share #24 Â Posted November 27, 2007 Sorry, replies crossed in the ethers. Unfortunately, I guess Leicas digitals arent always a straight forward use out of the box, like the canon. I am sure you will wind up getting DMR files that are staggering, or you should. There are those that would back them against pretty much anything not medium format. Even the sus DMR files Ive seen posted seem so easy to fix or adjust. Dont think it will take you long to get the hang of. Â Regards

JasonSF Posted November 27, 2007 Author Share #26  Posted November 27, 2007 OK, a pic from a cold overcast afternoon in Essex. New hand-rails to the office!  Viewfinder is big and very bright. Just have to get more used to the man focus and I will be up up and awayyyyyyy!  Shot in Jpeg as I still cant seem to get a RAW file off the camera. But, I will try that over the weekend.  Thanks again to all! Welcome, dear visitor! topoxforddoc Posted November 27, 2007 Share #27  Posted November 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, well I have it all up and running. Only thing is I cannot seem to get the images from the camera to the laptop! (apple) I have just called the store I purchased the camera from ( London's premiere Leica dealer ) and they do not know how to get images from the DMR!!!!! Even though the guy I was speaking to has one, he said he cannot remember and that it is not possible to transfer images without some software called silverfast, he thinks!  Does anyone have a mac and DMR? If so, how do you get the images from the camera to your computer   Usually (quoting my D-3, nikon D80, canon 20D) you just plug the things in and they appear on the desktop as a removable drive. Do I have to select something here? There is no mention in the instructions.  Thanks  Jason  Jason,  What sort of Leica Premier dealer is this??? I wonder which one it is - hmmm. If you want some more lenses as I read elsewhere, try Frank Foster at Photo Design Studio in Woolacombe 01272 870222.  As for the firewire connection, you should be able to download RAW as well as JPEG using the firewire cable. I used to do this all the time onto my Mac Pro, but I now use a card reader. As for RAW processing, I personally use Lightroom 1.3 from Adobe. OK the RAW processor might not be quite as sophisticated as Capture One, DMR images are recognised without any problem in LR and the workflow in LR is pretty easy to do.  Good Luck   Charlie
andybarton Posted November 27, 2007 Share #28  Posted November 27, 2007 Use a card reader - you know it makes sense  (Using the cable risks the wearing out of the socket on the DMR, bent pins and other nasties, such as inadvertently knocking the camera off the desk... all of which are very expensive to put right. A card reader costs about £20)  dng files will transfer to the Mac desktop or a folder of your choice in just the same way as jpgs. They are only computer files, after all. They will not, however, open in iPhoto, nor Aperture (unless you use Eoin and Sandy's hack and software)
