JayDN Posted January 28, 2024 Share #1  Posted January 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just purchased SL2-S and i have taken side by side exposure tests of both and notice a one-half to full stop difference in correct exposure. The SL with my two copies is faster. Any one experience this or read anything about this please?
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Hi JayDN, Take a look here SL vs SL2-S sensor sensitivities. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom0511 Posted February 21, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted February 21, 2024 Would you like to share further experience about both in comparison. (color, IQ, speed,...) I never owned them side by side. But for some reason I prefer the buttons of the original SL
Printmaker Posted February 24, 2024 Share #3  Posted February 24, 2024 I’ve never noticed any difference in speed between my SL and SL2S. But I’m convinced that the SL2S has better dynamic range and image quality. Both cameras are great. I originally got the SL as a replacement for the electronic visoflex and used my M glass. Then I got spoiled with the convenience of autofocus zoom lenses. Today I only go back to my M10 for a pure photographic experience. It can be very refreshing using a M camera but most of the time I reach for the SL2S.

I notice a difference between light meter readings and setting the digital cameras vs. film, but that is the difference between exposing for the highlights and shadows.  In addition, the highlights will blow out faster on the SL than the SL2-S, so what is the same exposure, might appear to be different. Just some thoughts.
