Stunning outfit! (And photo!)

Thanks Paul, Alma is from Iceland and is a totally lovely young woman, this was taken during a typical 3/4 minute encounter. We’ve met a few times subsequently and I’m hoping that we can do a dedicated shoot together, she has some wonderful outfits.

I could imagine her performing in an avant garde opera based on The Story of Burnt Njal!

A quick glance and The Story…………looks totally intriguing.  My mother and her sisters were all great knitters but Alma’s version came as a complete surprise.

Beautiful portrait again, David. That's some tat on her abdomen and the eyebrows are quite original. The smoking gun and skulls on her arm are a bit puzzling. Any idea what that's about?

Not really Brent, our meeting was very brief.  Alma was on her lunch break, she manages one of the many vintage clothes shops in the area.  I put my head around the door to say hello now and again and to maintain contact for future portraits.

I'd never be surprised to see that in the US because we have such a gun culture here, but it's very different in the UK where guns and mass shootings have not become commonplace.

Again a great portrait David! I always wonder where you can find these very special and interesting people. I live in a rural area with approx. 14.000 people and our only two or three exotic looking person have some tatoos and colored hair, that‘s all.

In this portrait, I like her open eyes, her open face (I hope it is the right translation) a lot. She doesn‘t look uncomfortable at all. I am sure Alama will love this portrait.

Come to London some time and I’ll show you my special place!

Sounds very good to me David! I will not forget your invitation for a walk through „your“ town

In England, we have a saying “familiarity breeds contempt”.  In other words, if you become too familiar, one tends to under value something.  I have a different version that says “familiarity breeds content”.  So for me, regular visits to a place especially where one has a family connection seem to produce a higher level of results.  I explain it better here https://www.macfilos.com/2023/11/27/conservations/

Fortunately Brent, we have strict controls on gun ownership.  I’ve photographed in quite a few tattoo parlours and there’s a fascination with skulls and other macabre objects so I’m not too surprised by seeing a gun on Alma’s arm. In jest, I said to one tattoo artist that I was a tattoo virgin and where could one go where it wouldn’t be seen by my wife. “My friend, that depends on how well you know your wife”.
