Changing the body covering and "flap of card slot" is a standard thing with the S. The cover needs to be removed in order to open it up, and it probably can't be re-used. I suspect that the SL looks the way it does because they learned their lesson with the S! Mirror bumpers, position sensor, spirit level, exposure meter: these are standard line items. I've seen them on many invoices posted here, and on a repair invoice for my own camera. They probably adjust/renew these every time a camera is opened. That leaves the WiFi module and "micro-sd". I didn't realize that the 007 has micro-sd. Maybe it's used for non-volatile memory? The WiFi module must have been the original camera fault. Hans-Dieter Gülicher Posted January 14, 2024 Share #23 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) In January 2020 I bought a second hand 007 from the Leica store Wetzlar. But it was a dead loss, sensor corrosion and something more. Leica took it back and I ordered a S3 as I intented to go to Antarctica at the 14th of March. They told me the new S3 probably will be launched in September. But I insist to get it at the 13th of March latest. Answer impossible. At the 13th I got a call from Leica and I could pick up my S3. I went to Wetzlar (170 km from my home) and was happy. But comming back home I got the information that my booked trip has been canceld because of Corona. Last year October I made the mentioned Antarctica trip not with my S3 but with my new M 10-R plus 35 mm Summicron. I think it was the right decission. What exactly are you communicating? You don’t like the 007? Or the S3? Or you just preferred the M 10-R for your trip?

Sensor corrosion on the 007 sounds at least unlikely. Are you sure it was not an S006?
Hans-Dieter Gülicher Posted January 14, 2024 Share #26 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) I have the S3. It`s my big boy and without any doubt an excelent device. But to go to Antarctica or similar I prefer my M 10-R + APO-Summicron 35 mm and 75 mm because in this case it provides a high quality according to my needs and furthermore it`s a very handy camera. vor 31 Minuten schrieb Photon42: Sensor corrosion on the 007 sounds at least unlikely. A link would be appreciated. I took my Leica R5 to Antarctica and had some fun, but got several photos of the splash where a penguin used to be. davidmknoble Posted January 20, 2024 Share #29 Posted January 20, 2024 @414concrete I also still have an S007 I bought new and used in freezing sleet in 2018 and still rinse off lightly with a hose after shooting in the windy sand/salt air at the coast. Not had any issues. Robust.

I do not think the CMOS is subject to time corrosion like the CCD. I assume anything can be flawed and it is possible, but if this is true, it is the first case of an S007 or any other Leica CMOS sensor I have heard was corroded. I am not worried about mine.
