Hello,

My M6 silver rewind knob and washers have loosened and fallen off. I am still waiting to hear back from Leica parts coordinator on whether it is a user replaceable part or if service is required. It has been over a month, and I have film inside the camera which I’m unable to extract.

In the meantime, I see there’s replacement rewind knobs available online, however I am unsure of where to find the correct washers/spring replacements?

Can anyone help with advice on where to find replacement washers, and directions for replacing the knob & washers on my own?

Thank you in advance!

It's a very, very simple job. Screw the new rewind knob on using a screwdriver in the peg of the rewind shaft to stop it rotating while you do it. Then tighten the locking screw in the rewind crank head. You'll need a very small screwdriver (1.2mm will fit) for that but they aren't expensive. This screw may or may not be screwed in too far when you get the new crank, if too far in only back it off just enough to screw the rewind crank onto the shaft, taking it out further can mean you lose it or have a fiddle getting it back in the hole. It will have been this tiny screw that came loose to cause the crank to fall off.

Thank you @250swb… Thoughts on recommending the type of screw to buy to use with the 1.2mm screwdriver? And, assuming with this screw, the washers are still needed, but not sure where to find washers for Leica?

I think the washer you mean is a spring washer and I think it should come with the rewind crank? Check with Leica.
