Dennis Posted December 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm currently in search of a USB-A or USB-C cable that I can use to charge my M10 batteries on the go using a power bank. I'm located in Mexico and plan to explore options on Amazon, which is my only chance to get it. However, I'm uncertain about what to enter in the Amazon search field. Any recommendations or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance! Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted December 13, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2023 I am in the bush often, but don't know the first thing about the Amazon. I suspect that you are right that mains will be a rarity. But in my experience venues for tourists and travellers will always have charging facilities for their guests. The problem with a power bank is that you need quite a hefty one to ensure sufficient charging capacity - most are conceived for phones. Better to carry sufficient spare batteries ( I usually take four) and two chargers If you take one and lose it you will be down to USB charging and you cannot use the camera in that time. FrozenInTime Posted December 13, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 13, 2023 (edited) The M10 charger has a 12V DC socket for in car charging at 1.3A. The supplied plug seems to be 5.5mm outer diameter, 2.5mm inner diameter ( tbc. misplaced my callipers ) 12V is optional profile on USB-C PD 3.0 at 18W and 36W on 3.1; there is variable 9-15V on 3.2 36W. ... all very complicated and a 1113 page standard ! https://www.usb.org/document-library/usb-power-delivery It should in theory work if the power bank or charger supports 12V output, and there are cables on Amazon or here https://www.adafruit.com/product/5450 Not tried it and interested to hear how you get on, but it seems easier just to find a car 🙂 Edited December 13, 2023 by FrozenInTime
jgeenen Posted December 13, 2023 Share #4 Posted December 13, 2023 Not sure about a cable, the German M10 charger uses mains voltage (120/240V). But there is a third party charger available that is designed for USB (it has an USB type A plug). Search for Nitecore ULM10 pro
jgeenen Posted December 13, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 13, 2023 As far as I understood PD, it asks the device on capabilities. If there is no response, it will fall back to 5V. To connect a powerbank you need more than an adapter cable
Sandokan Posted December 13, 2023 Share #6 Posted December 13, 2023 +1 for the Nite core ULM10. it charges two batteries with a USB cable.
Dennis Posted December 14, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted December 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all for the replies. I'm getting ready for a possible four-day trip assignment, camping in the mountains with no wifi/5g signal, electricity, or cars—just a backpack. I need to have autonomy. So far, I own four batteries, an original charger, and a good power bank. Four is something, but I would love having the ability to charge and avoid the savings and shoot less, or more carefully. I would prefer a simple cable (to use maybe with other gear) rather than a new Nitecore charger. A few guys already told me it is good for the M10. @FrozenInTime I found one on Amazon Mexico for about $20 USD, with the specs you mentioned. Not cheap at all but it should be fine to get the job done sometime. .
Jackus Posted December 22, 2023 Share #8 Posted December 22, 2023 Hello, maybe the hint in the German forum will help you: Translation: There is another option if you want to charge on the go without a socket. Connect the original power supply using an adapter cable with the 12V connection to a USB port, e.g. E.g. this one: LANMU Universal 5V to 12V USB to DC barrel plug power cable charging cable https://amzn.eu/d/dyfZjH9 So you can use the Leica batteries e.g. B. charge with a PowerBank. HTH!

FotoMonkey Posted February 24, 2024 Share #10 Posted February 24, 2024 I just picked up a a M10 this week and this is pertinent to my interests. My buddies and I like to get way off grid. Last year, for example, we took a float plane to a remote lake. There was battery power for lighting in the cabin but no outlets. I used a solar charger to keep my Fuji cameras going. I'd love to be able to do the same for the M10 on the next trip. What'd you end up doing, @Dennis?

For my last trip, I didn't bring my M10. I chose instead the old-school DSLR with "infinite" batteries. 5x was enough for a three-days-riding trip on donkeys like this: I found the suitable cable, but it's still on my wishlist...
