startover Posted December 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was handling my M10 and the tripod, lost my grip and the camera turned the wrong way, snapping the Visoflex. Is there any hope in getting this repaired or is it a worthless piece of plastic now? I don't want to spend US $400 on a new one. Thank you. Welcome, dear visitor! startover Posted December 10, 2023 Author Share #2 Posted December 10, 2023 I meant to say--oddly enough, it still functions. But is practically unusable since the top part sticks out.
Gelatino Posted December 10, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2023 Mine cracked in several places even if I used it very carrefully and not so often. I sold it "as it is" for 60€, fully functionnal after having "Super glued "all cracks. In your situation I don't think anyone would buy it, so I would try to consolidate the lower part with epoxy resin and finish with black paint.
rramesh Posted December 12, 2023 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) If electronics still OK, just use epoxy glue to flx the broken bits together. This product cannot be serviced by Leica. Just make sure you don't get it jammed into the hotshoe. Edited December 12, 2023 by rramesh
newtoleica Posted December 12, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 12, 2023 Glue it together. If it bothers you then there are plenty available used for half that.
mort linder Posted December 13, 2023 Share #6 Posted December 13, 2023 the rubber on the front of my 020 has cracked , and leica has no replacement . it is very disturbing that leica would not be able to repair a problem that is not uncommon on an expensive item like this . overexposed Posted December 14, 2023 Share #7 Posted December 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Huh? from the image my guess would be that part of the M10 was broken off the body
mujk Posted December 14, 2023 Share #8 Posted December 14, 2023 Based on the image it seems that almost the whole bottom part has broken off. Only the protruding part at the left is still attached to the rest of the finder, and that is the reason for the "broken" surface seen next to it. The bottom part should be attached by four screws, the heads of which have probably just broken through the plastic. In that case they may still be in place under the broken off part (hard to see from the image). If so, I would remove these before gluing the whole thing together with epoxy and then try to put them back afterwards to strengthen the bond. In addition a small, metal-colored protruding pin is missing. In the image the hole where this has been is behind the two gold-plated contact pins. I think the only function of this is to keep the finder in place when mounted. Good luck with the repair!
