The branches on the left I have tried to remove the purple fringing, but have not been successful in Capture One using the Defringe Tool. Anyone any ideas, so I can avoid this in future images?

Tried in RAW POWER and this seems to be better at removal of purple fringing or am I wrong in my assumption.

The new 'Point Colour' option in LR allows you to very precisely target colour and should enable you to desaturate it selectively.

Exposing for highlights and being prepared to bring up the shadows a lot in processing is the way to avoid it to start with.
