sandro Posted November 20, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted November 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am assembling material about infrared negative black & white films and one of the brands that used to have such a film was Dupont de Nemours. However I can't find detailed information about Dupont negative 35mm film, so if anyone knows something or has images of Dupont 35mm cartridges let me know. Specifically I am looking for the date of introduction of Dupont's infrared film. Lex
Advertisement Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Hi sandro, Take a look here Dupont 35mm film. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
zeitz Posted November 20, 2023 Share #2  Posted November 20, 2023 It's a long shot, but you might want to contact Dupont's corporate relations.  Major corporations in the US have historians, but they can be hard to find. daniel.a.turner@dupont.com
sandro Posted November 20, 2023 Author Share #3  Posted November 20, 2023 Thanks, I will try! Is Daniel Turner a historian of Dupont? Interestingly both Eastman Kodak and Agfa (or rather their museums/archives) are very helpful, in both caes they tell me the infrared negative film on 35mm were introduced in 1935, which is rather late. Ilford can't tell me the year but their first infrared red plates were introduced in 1932. Lex

sandro Posted November 20, 2023 Author Share #5 Â Posted November 20, 2023 Just now, pgk said: around what date was Dupont's IR film available? Not sure, Paul, but it was mentioned in literature of 1935, 1938 and 1939. Lex

sandro Posted November 21, 2023 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 21, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Daniel informed me that unfortunately there is nobody at Dupont who has the information I am looking for. He recommend the Hagley Museum so I contacted them. Lex
maxspbr Posted December 25, 2023 Share #8  Posted December 25, 2023 Are you looking for information on Dupont or Defender? They were separate corporations for a while.  Defender made a lot of ads on magazines. Maybe to follow the ads can give you an idea about.
sandro Posted December 26, 2023 Author Share #9 Â Posted December 26, 2023 Dupont produced and marketed 35mm film, also infrared. I am looking for information and images of that part. Lex
