Firmware Question

Hi All,

I finally got around to down loading the M8_1_110.zip firmware update to my IMAC, I then moved the firmware Icon to my SD Extreme III Card (After formatting) and proceeded to the camera. When I put the card in the camera I get a message saying Udate Failed. Last time I did this I had no problems. Am I doing something wrong? I deleted all pictures from the card before doing anything.

Thanks,

Wilfredo

You unzipped the file, right? And saved the file to the top level of the card?

Leica instructions:

"Download the Firmware file from the Leica M8 site using the “UPDATES” link and unzip the file.

Save the unzipped file m8-1_xx.upd at the top level of the card’s folder structure. xx stands for the version.

Remove the card properly from your card reader, insert the card into the camera and close the bottom cover.

Turn on the camera using the main switch and wait for at least 3 seconds before continuing with step 7.

Confirm"

There's an illustration as well, showing the card's file structure.

Hi All,

I suppose the obvious thing would be to format another card in the M8, reload it into a card reader connected to the iMac and transfer the download, then insert card into the M8 and try again. I had no problms with a Fuji card+(pre-Intel) iMac with my M8 – it all went smoothly.

Best of luck!

Thank you all. I tried a different card and dragged the M81110.upd to the card, and EUREKA. I uploaded the firmware to the camera with no problem. Thanks again for the quick responses. I'm good to go now, and I'm taking the M8 to New York for Thanksgiving :-)

Happy Thanksgiving,

Wilfredo
