Leica are being very quiet about the details of what is intended. However big hints have been dropped about new M and R range models at Photokina 2008 together with an "X'. What that could be is anybody's guess.
davephoto Posted November 22, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted November 22, 2007 I am a fan of Leica!I had in the past a Leica CM Zoom. Do you know if Leica intend to produce a "digital CM" ??? I'd be one of the first to line up for such a release. Or even a real update of the Digilux 2 using the same form factor. Â Â Â
chari2302 Posted November 22, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted November 22, 2007 I have used a Digilux 2 during some time, great camera !!!
chari2302 Posted November 23, 2007 Author Share #6 Â Posted November 23, 2007 What about a Caplio GX 100 or a GR Digital ""a la Leica" ?
Guest malland Posted November 23, 2007 Share #7  Posted November 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) What about a Caplio GX 100 or a GR Digital ""a la Leica" ?Absolutely, as I keep on saying ad nauseum, these are the camreras that Leica should have produced if they were an innovative company and had the R&D funds. And don't forget the Leica D-Lux 3, which is also a fine camera. Here's a D-Lux 3 picture, followd by one taken with the GR-D and another with the GX100:        —Mitch/Paris Flickr: Photos from Mitch Alland

thomasl.se Posted November 23, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted November 23, 2007 What about a Caplio GX 100 or a GR Digital ""a la Leica" ? Â If they've been listening, then Leica would have heard GRD and Digital CM mentioned in the same threads, posts and sentences for a year now, or is it two. Nice touch if Ricoh named their new 40mm converter CM-1.
Overgaard Posted November 24, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted November 24, 2007 Leica D-Lux 3 is probably the closest you will get to a CM Zoom. Not as simple, but it has many great qualities. Very loveable with the brown leather thing around it.
Half-Handed Posted November 25, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted November 25, 2007 I would give my eye teeth to see a digital CM, we're all still waiting to see if the Sigma DP1 ever comes out. But in the meantime my film CM will have to do. Still, every time this topic comes up we all say much the same things and Mitch wheels his photos out again
Guest malland Posted November 25, 2007 Share #12  Posted November 25, 2007 That's because I'm waiting to see your's, Nathan. Also, because I think that photography is mainly about the pictures, not the equipment.  —Mitch/Paris Mitch Alland's slideshow on Flickr
chari2302 Posted November 27, 2007 Author Share #13 Â Posted November 27, 2007 No doubt D-Lux3 is a fine camera but I am frustrated by the lack of a viewfinder.
Guest malland Posted November 27, 2007 Share #14  Posted November 27, 2007 I prefer using the LCD rather than a viewfinder because it facilities a "looser", more fluid shooting style.  —Mitch/Paris Flickr: Photos from Mitch Alland

Interesting viewpoint. I think its a real shame they didn't offer the same type of LCD that you get on the better Canon models, so you can flip it out and use it like a WLF.
