I ordered this JJC grip and am VERY pleasantly surprised with the build quality and fit....just perfect.  It is light as a feather yet hardy enough to definitely belong on the Q3.  The cut away they engineered by the SD card door makes it very easy to extract and replace the card as opposed to the RRS version for the Q2...really nicely done.

i got the same JJ grip but still waiting for my Q3.

Watched a few review on YouTube showing Q3 lens is heavier, so the camera will tilt and rest on the lens.
‘Thus does this JJ grip’s base will prevent this?

Thanks.

I was going to wait on the RRS one as well.  But, with its inability to go vertical, it also doesn't block access to the HDMI and USB-C outputs.  Going vertical for me will mean tilting the tripod.

I am sure RRS will have a way around that.  They do on my Nikons over the years that I have used their L brackets.  D7000, D600, D750 all retained access to the ports.  In the interim I have just attached a flat Arca Swiss plate to the camera, but I have to remove it to get the card out unless I use a cable connection.

Hello,

Thanks for this.  Just got my Q3.  Does any metal surface of this grip touches the Q3 body?

I have the JJC grip arriving at end of the week.  The feedback has been very positive.  RRS had promised a short turnaround on making one available for the Q3, but "snooze" you lose.

I like the Leica grip with wireless charging, but has no arca Swiss plate. My Q2 RRS L Plate does not fit the Q3, as it has the vertical mount. Yeah, RRS says its coming, but I wonder..

There is a thin layer of velvet at the base. Weighs 83grams.

Personally I wouldnt use a grip on the Q3, but JJC never puts a foot wrong IMHO. I have bought loads of their accessories over the years and they are perfect fitting and engineered well

Yes, it is a personal preference.  I just received my JJC grip and thrilled with the way it fits and feels.  I had an RRS "L" plate on my Q2 which I felt was overly bulky and not in current production.  Thanks to @reynoldsyoung ......for bringing it to my attention.

Does anyone use a rear thumb support in conjunction with the JJC Q3 grip?  If so, does it really help?

Thanks!

David

It does balance better.  Depends on your thumb, whether you like what the Q3 stock provides.  The Leica Rear thump support has that protruding part that feels just right, for me.

(not JJC here, but it's the same for me as I have tried that gip too)

I’m using jjc and no thumb grip.
I’m Asian. 5ft mid.
My thumb will rest on the concave portion of the camera. Feels ok for me.
I imagine with the thumb support, my thumb will be flexed outwards.
without the thumb grip, my thumb and 4 fingers feels more ergonomically in a gripping position.

Paul, I very much like the look of your “golden” and wooden accessories. I would have followed suit, but am worried that they might attract too much attention in busy public places. So I opted for black. How do you guard against this problem?
