Hi Guys

I have a Leica SL1 and I've noticed that there is no noticable clunk when taking a shot. I know the camera has no "real" shutter but when working with a model its good to hear the camera take a photo so that the model then moves on to another pose. I know in some cases the camera needs to be silent and I get that but for some reason, not sure whether I've changed a setting but the camera is now silent without that "clunk" any advice?

cheers

You may have the camera set to electronic shutter mode.

In the menu's CAMERA section, select Electronic Shutter , and switch the function On or Off.

What gave you the idea the SL has no shutter?

Or reset to factory settings if you cannot find it. Reading the manual is advisable. The camera has many features that support professional use.

I have read the manual, there is no mention about the "shutter" being silenced or not

Of course not. There is no shutter being silenced.
Look for "Electronic Shutter" A mechanical shutter cannot be silenced. An electronic shutter is silent unless the camera adds a sound through a speaker. Your camera has like most if not all mirrorless cameras both a mechanical and an electronic shutter, except the Nikon Z9. Switch off electronic schutter in the menu and the mechanical shutter will take over. This is the default setting. Hence my suggestion to reset the camera to factory settings.
