Correct.  I already have a Q3, I would be looking to add the Q body with the 40-50mm lens if's released.  Honestly, though, over time the Q3 won't cost that much to own if I ever decide to sell it and my APO lenses for my SL2-S were all purchased preowned so if I ever decide to sell them they will pretty much have been free to own.  I kind of try to do the same with cars ;)

I understand that some people just hate to crop - personally I’m the opposite and find myself cropping almost every image very significantly and bought my Q2 precisely because it would allow me to do so without dropping below about 6-8 megapixels. Do you want a 40-50mm Q3 because you think there’s a IQ issue with cropping or because you would prefer a viewfinder that showed that rather than framelines? Or do you just not like cropping?!

I’m asking simply because I still crop significantly when I use a 50mm lens on my M11 and I’m wondering whether I’m just weird and trying to work out whether to get a 90mm lens or just to carry on cropping my M11 files.

I think of the Q3 as a Ferrari. Very expensive, technically flawed (especially for the asking price), some quirky solutions to problems that other brands have solved way better but boy when it delivers then the heaven gates open 😃.

Oh, and it also holds value way better than the other brands, despite of all the alleged drawbacks 😉

So true.

I have a ‘69 Alfa Romeo Spyder.  When I want to be absolutely sure of getting to my destination I take my Acura SUV…when I just want to have fun and enjoy driving…the Alfa by a mile.

Alternative reason: a 40/1.7 looks and renders different than a 26/1.7 cropped the the FoV of a 40mm

Wanting a 40-50mm Q bodied camera has nothing to do with resolution.  My go to setup in that focal length is my SL2-S with the 50mm APO Summicron-SL.  I want the 40-50mm Q because I'm assuming it will be made with a lens that has a similar depth of field to my Summicron-SL.  If I can carry something smaller that renders close to the SL2-S setup (I know it won't be an APO lens) that would be my ultimate daily carry.
