I thought once activated for images there is no going back. Add what to a file in PS?

Then videos I saw needed CA active in PS and you had a tick box to toggle it off or on in the image.

Add CA to a file - as I understand it this is to be used for al sorts image origination, not just photos - (AI, art, etc etc)

That asides, if you edit it with software that doesn't support CA, itll just be wiped anyway?

Well Leica's own shows a tick box IIRC?

and this ? Just Seems somewhat unclear?

The official website is quite exhaustive, and there’s also the official Adobe white paper on the matter.
https://contentauthenticity.org

the video on the site itself shows art and audio - its not JUST photos so you have to be able to add CA other than in 'a camera". Also AI.

Is just to authenticate the origination of a digital 'thing' not just photos.

Feels kinda NFTy tbh lol

the site even has tools to create CA data into files.

Yes, but the point is that you cannot add it later. It has to be implemented at creation. That’s what is stated on the official website.

Who's to say and control at what stage it is 'created' and when ca data can be injected

Im not so much cynical at this point as wary of all this praise.
