After working great since 2019, I experienced the hang described in this thread.

In addition to what is mentioned in the original thread, I can add the following. The camera was not completely hung after taking an exposure, when I removed the bottom plate to drop the battery, the BOTTOM COVER REMOVED message would come up on the LCD display.  So the camera was not completely bricked during this hang.

Since the camera would readily hang up once this started occurring, I also removed the lens while the camera was hung to see if the shutter was open, closed, whatever.  The shutter appeared to be completely closed as it should be post exposure.

Playing around with the camera, I found that it would create "images" without the lens attached with no problem (it was an LTM lens but I left the adapter in place).  So I starting thinking that it was related to metering/image processing issue rather than a mechanical issue with the shutter.

At this point I started thinking that it resembled the "hang" that could be experienced when a rapid fire sequence was shot, which led me around to the SD card.  I popped it in and out a number of times and found no change in the issue.

Later that day I replaced the SDcard with another.  Both of these cards have been used many times over the years, as have all my SDcards.  Putting in another card and formatting in camera, which I always do when I swap cards, I have found the issue to be gone.  At least for now.

So for now, I will relate this issue to an SDcard failure of some sort.  The cards I use are SanDisk Ultra 32gb 80 mb/s.  They've been around for 10 years or so.  I have a bunch of them and this is the first time I've suspected any issues.  As for the card that was in the camera when this happened, I downloaded the images and threw the card away.
