Good morning everyone. I am a fan of the Zeiss world, but I was struck by the first Leica SL. Being also passionate about photographic hunting, I would like to know how the SL behaves with the Sigma 100-400 and with the 150-600 sport. Is the focus acceptable? Or is it difficult to use? Let me clarify one thing, I don't care that it tracks birds at 11 fps, but that it is acceptable on static birds and that focusing doesn't take long. Surely some of you will have had experience with these lenses, even if I have never seen an SL in an observation hut, but guys, I like it too much and I would be willing to make some small sacrifices to have it. I would start with a lens of this type because I have several wide-angle and normal Zeiss lenses for extra bird photography, and then, calmly, take something normal for the SL too. A warm thank you to those who will answer me......let me enter this world please :). I hope the message is written well, I used the translator. Happy Sunday everyone

Welcome to this forum.

I think that there will be members with more long tele experience that can contribute to this thread, but I wanted to give you some feedback about my personal experience with the SL and tele lenses in general.

I use my SL mostly with my manual focus R lenses. The viewfinder is bright and detailed which is great for manual lenses. And the magnify function is perfect for critical focus. The body is heavy and balances well with longer and heavier lenses. My APO Telyt 280 F2.8 matches very well and even with the APO 2x converter (560mm F5.6) there were no issues.
With longer lenses, I can recommend the extra multi functional battery grip. It really feels like a different camera when mounted and the extra weight is largely compensated by the better balance and handling. Shooting in portrait mode is also much easier.

I leave comments about the Sigma 100-400 and 150-600 to other users. As well as comments about hunting and AF performance.

Or,alternately, use the search box, just type 150-600,100-400 or 60-600.

These were taken with the 150-600 on a 601 just a few days ago...

To add: in some circumstances the 150-600 can do a bit of “shiver” hunting on the 601 but not enough to be more than a minor annoyance, as the image will be sharp anyway and it is easily corrected by refocus.
