The only thing is it looks like brand new (unlike my other 3 M9s) I shall be afraid to use it in case I ding it. 😉 I'll have to update my photo (Post 15). Now it has its Thumbs Up on here's a shot. I thought B&W would suit the theme. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! adan Posted May 3, 2024 Share #27 Posted May 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) My gods - were the M9s ever really that pudgy? After seven years with M10s (but over seven very productive years before that with M9s 👍 ) - I'd completely forgotten about that characteristic. Sorry about the weak motor/shutter - hope that can be replaced for you! (Nice focal length selection, BTW. Same as mine except I add a 135). On 12/2/2023 at 2:38 PM, Topsy said: No, the problematic one is the one on the left of these 3 the one I dropped the tripod on is working fine that is the one on the right (you can just make out the dent in the top plate lower right just beside the lens FL indicator (75)). BTW as the problematic one was working normally once back at home I tried to replicate the fault by leaving it in the cold (of a drinks cooler) like it was in on Wednesday and after 1 hour it was still fine but after a second hour it repeated the recocking issue so it is defiitely not well and doesn't like the cold. Topsy Posted February 6 Share #29 Posted February 6 On 12/2/2023 at 11:50 AM, Topsy said: Ah yes but I'll still only have a set of 3 because my most used one has started to malfunction, basically htis Wednesday whilst out shooting in the cold weather it was really struggling to re-cock the shutter making a weird motordrive sound and to stop it I had to remove the battery. Although once back in the house at room temperature it worked fine I can't trust it out in the cold so when @M9reno posted that link I thought it was fate so jumped on it. I can now look into the possibility of a service/repair of my old one whilst still having my 3 body set up. Of course I will have to re-shoot this. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! By way of an update on my M9 with the shutter re-cock issue in cold weather. I needed a sensor clean on my D-Lux (typ 109) so I contacete Leica Mayfair who said they no longer service the Typ 109 (but do the D-Lux 7 onwards) but they gave me the details of a guy who used to work for them and now does the older digital stuff himself (David Slater, Camera Focus (Camera Repairs), david@camera-focus.co.uk) who did an excellent job for me in less than a week. Anyway whilst talking to him I mentioned my M9 issue and asked if he did repairs on M9s, initially he said Leica still do but said if I wanted a quicker turnaround he would do it for me. Long story short I sent him my poorly M9 and he looked it over and gave me a quote to service and sort out the shutter (if needed) so I sent it off to him. He said he would be able to get the shutter working better as it had clogged lubricant but was ubsure if he could get it 100%, that said if not he did have a new shutter (his last one) that he had bought from Leica when he worked for them and could fit that if necessary. I said if in any doubt fit the new one (which is what he did in the end). So here I am now just waiting for it to be returned in the post (due to arrive tomorrow) with a new shutter and complete service. Should last me a while now.
