pcgarner Posted October 10, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2023 And its purpose? Tethered to a GNSS antenna? A survey device?
pcgarner Posted October 10, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 10, 2023 After research ... Yes, it's the Leica CSX8, an Android tablet for GNSS/GPS data collection. It'll never be ported over for photography, although we can wish!
pcgarner Posted October 12, 2023 Share #4 Posted October 12, 2023 I followed up on this and it'll be released in the US at the end of November--$2200. It's essentially an Android OS tablet designed for GIS/GNSS data collection. Weather proof. Bounce it off a sidewalk. I have one on order.
ph. Posted October 13, 2023 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2023 putting a red dot on washing up liquid or on toilet paper may increase sales to teh less well informed, but does not correspond to the reasons that Leitz became world leading: mechanical and optical excellence, longevity and reliability of products: hence relabelling is a pernicious practice. p. The CSV8 appears to be a bottom up design that syncs with Leica's high precision GNSS devices (such as the FLX100). It allows users to collect points at 1-2 cm accuracy and incorporates use of the Leica Zeno Mobile software. To my knowledge, no rebadging/relabeling here. ph. Posted October 15, 2023 Share #7 Posted October 15, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I missed the Geographical info Systems bit and entirely agree that the Leitz measuring device successor is absolutely worthy of carrying the name- It was the ladies-handbag-and fashiion-victim-show-off-period with yellow versions etc. that put me off when Leitz stopped servicing its old products like they used to do in the Hauser torwerk. p.
