I printed a pic that was on my phone from a few years ago. The Fotos App printed it via Sofort 2. Pic was a little too bright but not too bad. Printing from phone or camera isn’t an issue. what I want to do is use the Leica app the same way it works with my Q2 and m10 and that is connect to the camera and see a gallery of all pictures on the Sofort 2. The advertising would suggest this is how it works but either the manual is wrong or this is a horribly crippled functionality of the app. My partner, on my advise bought a Sofort and as far as I can tell you can only send images to the app from the camera if they are printed! Frankly this is a ridiculous. It doesn’t make any difference whether they are on the internal memory or card. This lack of functionally destroys this camera for use with social media. i hope I am mistaken but the manual only mentions sending “printed” images to the app!

I think you're right; I can't seem to move pics I took w/Sofort2 to my phone unless I print them. The workaround is to pull pics from micro SD card to your laptop. But I agree; it seems strange that you can't see the camera pics in the app. Firmware update?

Great workaround if you’re carrying a laptop but if you only have a phone why buy a sofort? I have to believe this is an oversight!
Toshack10 Posted November 22, 2023 Share #65 Posted November 22, 2023 This has reminded me that a few weeks ago, my 17 yo son was hanging his head over a Polaroid SX70 (or whatever the new version is called): "It's really cool, getting actual photos out" - A quick google has that at a similar price point here in the UK and Polaroid are out of stock. The market for this may well not be you and me!
cj3209 Posted November 22, 2023 Share #66 Posted November 22, 2023 Although I'm hoping for a software update to address this issue, my main usage for the Sofort 2 is to print pics I've taken with my M and SL Leicas on-the-fly for friends and clients. So the Sofort 2 is basically a portable printer for me.

I have say it does take a surprisingly good image for what it is!

Ktsa5239 Posted November 25, 2023 Share #69 Posted November 25, 2023 I’ve just picked up my sofort2 and I’m also shocked and disappointed that only printed files can be transferred to the foto app. The reviews I’ve read before I bought it didn’t mention this problem…
rjans Posted November 25, 2023 Share #70 Posted November 25, 2023 I found a good review of the Sofort 2, https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/reviews/leica-sofort-2-review . I have no connection with this website. It is mentioned in the review that only printed images can be send. The same is valid with the sister camera of Fujifilm. See the YouTube channel "matejphoto" and search for the mini Evo with a possible solution. Maybe it also works the same with the Sofort 2. I don't know if this could damage the camera/printer and it may void warranty.

When you print and transfer to you iOS device, it transfers a 0.5 megapixel image!!!! I haven’t dived in to see if that can be changed BUT since that the approx res of the print I suspect not. ialready had usbc and lighting card readers so I will just go that route.. a little disappointing but even so this is a fun camera for casual outings! cj3209 Posted November 25, 2023 Share #72 Posted November 25, 2023 Also, you don't have to use Leica-branded film. Fuji works and is a little cheaper.
Al Brown Posted November 26, 2023 Share #73 Posted November 26, 2023 Wanting to be super critical I took the SOFORT 2 into my hands. Virtually nothing I could be critical about. Hmm, sounds like somebody wants to sell more film packs! I guess you could buy one of those $10 Lightning/USB card readers for your phone and forget the app. Or maybe the camera itself can be connected if you have the right cable. Not very elegant, but it should also give you access to the full resolution images, and you can use a more sophisticated app like Lightroom on the phone. cj3209 Posted January 20, 2024 Share #75 Posted January 20, 2024 Can you take out the film "mid-roll" and insert another monochrome film for a few pics and then switch back?

Nope, not mid roll. You would have to wait to finish the roll (or eject and expose the film), switch to mono film and then print out your desired photo in monochrome. . It would be incredibly useful if we could change film mid-roll. Oh, well. It's nice to have the option of printing b/w; b/w pics on color film looks a bit like sepia.
Thomas_M10 Posted January 22, 2024 Share #78 Posted January 22, 2024 I think you can take out the film "mid-roll". But - you loose the top picture and the image counter begins with 10 again if you insert the mid-roll film again. Correct me if I say something wrong. You can take out the film "mid-roll" without loosing the top picture. This has to be done in complete darkness and it requires the dark slide that ejects when inserting a new pack. I always keep a few dark slides. From the dark slide you need to pull off the little tab. In complete darkness then insert the dark slide back into the film cartridge on top. I've done this before with instax mini and also Polaroid instant film. It does take some fiddling in the dark. It's indeed that when one puts such a cartridge back in the camera, the camera starts counting from 10 again. Edit: an example video when using a Polaroid film pack, almost identical with instax https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W6KXF-j19s Edited January 25, 2024 by rjans 1
Dazzajl Posted December 5, 2024 Share #80 Posted December 5, 2024 I bought one of these this week. I’d had my eye on the Fuji but then someone put the Sofort on sale and the extra for (in my eyes) a nicer looking package and USB C was easier to swallow. It’s definitely a very cool little toy, which seems the prime objective and short of not being able to transfer pics via the app unless they’ve been printed (which is nothing but mean spirited profiteering) it works brilliantly. It’s without doubt the worst image quality I’ve seen since I had since a camera on a Sony Ericsson in the mid 90s. If it’s not a face or thing right up in front of the lens, it’s just a blurry smudge. But that’s okay here, it’s telling me to stop trying to be a clever snapper and capture some memories with the people that make them special in the first place. It’s huge fun and if you bring it to any gathering, it will make people smile and those little teeeeeny tiny prints will be priceless. Would definitely recommend
