I did something stupid, but luckily my stupidity was limited. While deleting a few photos as planned, I also deleted 4-5 good photos. Is there a way to recover the raw files off the SD card?  I know some apps place files in a temporary folder (or trash) for a limited period of time. Thanks.

Further clarification: this is recovery using an iPad Pro as I am traveling and don’t have my MBP available.

Initially, the most important thing is not to write any more images to the card.  Then, when you have access to a computer, there’s lots of software which will recover deleted files from a memory card.  If you do write more images to the card, there’s an increasing risk that the ‘deleted’ images will be wholly or partially overwritten and corrupted.

The first and most crucial step is to stop using the SD card as soon as possible. Do not take any new photos, save new files, or make any changes to the card. Some cameras have a trash or deleted folder where deleted files are temporarily stored before being completely removed from the card, but I'm not sure about yours.

However, your lost photos can be recovered only by a photo recovery tool. Choose the one that is fast and can safely recover deleted photos and videos from all models of Leica cameras. I would recommend Stellar or Wondershare as they have a good reputation for recovery.

For  about 9yrs I’ve been carrying the various iterations of the travel friendly and very portable Hyperdrive UDMA  products for image backups, and recover deleted files is an inbuilt feature.

currently the Hyperdrive UDMA3 with SSD drive is the last available product , and I’ve been able to avoid carry a laptop all these years

I ran into this problem yesterday, the first thing I did was make a full disk copy of the SD card (even though it was "empty") and then run recovery software on the disk image instead of on the SD card itself, as I've been advised against that. Then for recovery software I was struggling to find something because every tool I found wanted money for a 1 year license and I don't mind paying for something that could be useful long-term, but this problem luckily doesn't happen often to me and the handful of photos I lost from a little walk that I'm doing daily were not worth money to me. But a friend told me about "DMDE" Disk Editor and Data Recovery Software which worked perfectly. Somehow I did not find this during my own online search, it's also not user friendly at all, but I got back all the lost files so I am happy with it.

Well, there are quite a few few recovery apps around, some are mentioned in this thread. Most recovery software will only work in the card itself as it is not guaranteed that the hidden files will be recognized during copying
