For those of us who already have an M11, and don't want the expense of a new M11-D, I'm selling a conversion kit.

It's removable should you decide that going back two decades in time is too much for you and is easily fixed to the LCD

The kit comes with full instructions and a pair of Solingen steel German scissors to aid in the application.

Also included is a Sharpie pen in contrasting colour to allow you to create your own redundant ISO dial etc on the back of the camera.

Available in a variety of colours to match your shutter release, strap, case etc.

Recurring jokes since the M60. 🥱

rumor says end of september !

i will be first in line at our local Leica boutique...

Same here. But I don’t buy it just because of the specs (sensor etc.). As M10-R, -D and -M user it has to exude a certain M magic when it’s shown to me in the boutique, otherwise it stays there. *sparkle*sparkle* 😁

i was so lucky to touch that beast, the m11d, already some weeks ago, physically.  what a *sparkling magic* it exudes, just amazing !  and its top, grippy like shark skin !  and lighter it became too, as compared to my m10d...

Wow! Where? But you probably can't tell us that. 😎

Sounds like you're convinced. 😉

bonjour @evikne, yes, i think so, i am convinced for numerous small & big reasons, the biggest one being the more capable sensor in the M11* camera line.

now,  i absolutely love the m10d's simplicity but i imagine the m11d comes with an even more refined  camera handling and processing pipeline, i.e. a simpler workflow, which will hopefully smoothly suit my preferred way of full-manual image capturing.

几周前,我很幸运地亲手接触了 m11d 这个猛兽。它散发出一种 *闪耀的魔力*,太神奇了!它的顶部像鲨鱼皮一样有抓地力!而且与我的 m10d 相比,它也变得更轻了……

glad to hear that the prototype  model is on test , but please so why Leica delayed its release ?

hmmmm... like shark skin? And lighter? I was hoping for brass and black paint. Doesn't sound like brass :(

Writing here as a former M10-D devotee, loved the camera, my favourite digital M, but my particular one didn't love me back enough, it got homesick too often and had to return to "Mother" five times with all trips back "home" being long service visits for electronic hiccups, mechanically it was fine but it spent half of my ownership of it back at Wetzlar. It's last problem with unreadable viewfinder numbers had me take up an offer to trade it back to the Leica store I bought it at originally for a credit for other Leica stuff...............

So why am I here now where everyone is talking about the probably built and stored away somewhere M11-D just awaiting an "all clear" from Leica to release it? Well seeing the problems the other M11's have been suffering it just has to be firmware related, without a LCD to read settings and like the M10-D a M11-D would be even more reliant on it's firmware to run smoothly with, ( just my guess here ), much of the set-up and setting changes being handled via the Leica Photo's App'. How many of the features / complications the M11-D will inherit from the other M11's we don't know yet but I would guess again that many of the M11's problems stem from this model line being the most electronically over-stuffed digital M so far without perhaps good enough processing power and matured firmware to handle everything..........Again, could be well off base here.

Right now I don't want to go further up the Leica digital tree than my existing four M10's, ( yes, too many ), they do all I want or need but having said that a greatly simplified M11-D could well have had me seriously thinking about selling a couple of them and going for a M11-D if only for the form factor, but the delay in it's release tells me that this is going to be another too unnecessarily complicated M offering from Wetzlar and if so, as such, I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial ten foot pole. I wouldn't want to go through the frustrations that quite a number of M11 owners have suffered these past 2-3 years and endure Leica's sloth like efforts to address the firmware maybe hardware issues..............Anyway, despite the rumours that the M11-D has the on/off switch back in the right place around the shutter release where it should have been in the M10-D in the first place it appears that the faux winding handle/thumb rest is no more so that's a killer by itself!

Now you got my anticipation revived. I’m not sure if that is a good thing. 😂

I think M users fall into two groups: those who want to wear a lighter M around their neck, and those who like the M’s brass-driven heft. I count myself in the second group, but an aluminum top wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me ... if the rest is as magical as @fenykepesz described. 😉

I’m not an expert in materials or machining but perhaps using aluminum instead of brass it’s not only about customer’s wishes but to lower the production cost of the body (aka improves Leica’s margins)? Just a guess.

How would the 'pipeline' or workflow be any different than the M10D? IMO it would be more complicated if anything - having to pull the battery every time the camera freezes up isn't 'simpler' or 'smoother.' To me it's a bit like buying a Cybertruck when a proven Toyota Tacoma or Ford F150 would be a lot more practical and robust, but hey, it's your money...

@Smudgerer I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with your M10-D. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with my digital Ms since the M8 (I skipped the M240 era).

After all the issues with the M11 mentioned here in the L forum, they will certainly be part of my decision when the M11-D finally hits stores. But looking back at my past Leica gear purchases, rational decisions were almost never a part of it, just the constraint of money. 😂

Dein Wort in Gottes Ohr! (Your word in God's ear) as we say in Germany. I guess October is the sweet spot between an almost missed jubilee year and Christmas.

Thanks, and yes you are right, but my experience with the M10-D was frustrating rather than "bad", I hung in there for as long as I could hoping that the next visit "home" would sort the camera out and make it a definite "keeper" but in the end I accepted Leica's offer to trade and it was a decent one too. I guess they knew it was a "troubled child" plus they also told me that replacement parts were very scarce for the camera so ongoing service could well be problematical which was a real pity because as I said it was easily my favourite digital M to date to use, ( and the 24mp size sensor is for me the "sweet-spot" for a M's sensor size ). I could not find an affordable M10-D replacement so another M6, ( with the .58 viewfinder ), joined the stable instead...........Sort of M10-D like but with a fully interchangeable "sensor". My other digital M's haven't been entirely trouble free, the M10-R suffered a failed LCD and just squeaked in under the warranty period for a +6 month away trip to Wetzlar for replacement by Leica, fingers crossed the other two are still behaving but in truth I am limping away from Leica's digital M offerings and returning more so to film for what I want to image on these days...........A M11 in any shape or form is not for me.
